    BTW I know Canada is very big but have you had a chance to dive off Vancouver Island? I hear due to the currents that bring nutrients everything there is huge and the sea floor is covered in life. I want to find someone who has actually dived there so I can decide if worth the trip back up there...

    yup, Padi doesn't require any "requalification." Once you are qualified there is no expiration. However as mentioned earlier LDS may require some form of refresher or an easy/shallow dive.
