Tell us about your 50th Dive

July 9th, 2015 : shore/wall night dive at Captain Don's Habitat, Bonaire. This was my 6th night dive and on previous night dives I had yet to see an octopus. I really really wanted to see one. Well, at the end of the dive I still hadn't seen one but had 1200 psi in my tank. I explored the...

Seeking Recommendations for Diving in Maui

Back in 2013, my first ocean dives after certification were with Maui Dreams/Maui Diamond II. The Maui Diamond II is the boat diving associated with Maui Dreams. The first dive was to the Molokini Crater (my max depth was 61 feet) and the second dive was to Wailea Point (max depth 45 feet). I...

Experienced diver with newly certified spouse

I'd add Columbia Deep to the list with Punta Sur and Maricaibo... easy to want to go 80-100+ at that site. If you go with a dive shop like Aldora (not criticizing Aldora, I'm a fan of Aldora), the hubby will likely want/need Nitrox certification given their larger tanks (HP120's and HP100's)...

QUOTE="KentB, post: 7887475, member: 481961"]=so final question on this geo 2............it seems to work now if it works in dive mode as well (ill take it a handful of times to make sure) do I sell it or keep it as a 2nd or backup?? as much as I like redundancy a couple hundred bucks would be...

    Oceanic Geo 2 dead

My initial dive computer was an Oceanic Pro Plus 3 that had an issue during my first dive trip with it. Upon return from my dive trip, I went back to the LDS I purchased it from, who got his distributor on the phone, who got his Oceanic contact on the phone. I described the problem and an RMA...

    Fly marked as a dive

My first Oceanic Pro Plus 3 did something similar. After 2 morning dives I was taking a nap in the afternoon. The PP3 activated in my hotel room, thought it was doing an altitude dive, and after the maximum dive time (exactly x hours, don't remember the exact number) it ended the dive and...

Alternating Nitrox and Air dives ok on ProPlus 3?

It definitely works if you use the Nitrox 21% setting for air. If you use the air setting it may lock you into air mode until 24 hrs pass. Not 100% on this.

    Nautilus Lifeline on BCD

On a liveaboard last year, one of the crew used to work for Nautilus. He recommended to me that I zip-tie the case to my BCD. I've done this ever since and it works well for me.

ProPlus 3 doesn't log air usage?

Yes, if you got the USB cable and downloaded your dive logs, dive software will be able to calculate your air consumption rate. I use subsurface. Something to note is that the USB cable for the PP3 can be tricky to get working. Cheers, Jim

    North Carolina Diving

I just had my first NC diving experience last weekend. My dive experience/history sounds similar but different to yours. I'm Advanced and Nitrox certified and did my 54th-57th ocean dives with Olympus Dive Center. Prior to last weekend I had been to 99 ft and had done a couple of wreck dives...

Geo 2.0 dive computer stuck in dive mode

Sounds like you have one that isn't operating correctly. I'd return it for a replacement as I wouldn't trust the one you have. Cheers, Jim

    GEO 2.0 user settings help!!!

Something to note about your Nitrox setting on the Geo 2, when the 24 hr to fly timer hits zero the gas settings reset to Air. So, for example, if you are diving 32% all week and decide to take a day off mid-week the gas setting will reset to Air by your next dive. Not to say that double...

Beqa Island, Fiji : Help ID'ing Clams and a Beautiful Fish

Very much appreciate all the help thus far. Sorry for the lower quality pictures, I'm actually pulling frames from a GoPro Hero2. I've added arrows to the "clam" photo. It's actually 2 "clams" (or what I'm calling clams at this point). They reminded me of a venus flytrap. Their diameter is...

Beqa Island, Fiji : Help ID'ing Clams and a Beautiful Fish

Recently returned from a fantastic time on Beqa Island, Fiji. I have two photos of critters and I'm interested in ID'ing them. Thanks in advance for any/all help in ID'ing them. Photo 1: I've tried searching for "red hairy clam" and, unfortunately, I get the results you'd expect. :(...

New to Forums. Certified Last Year.

Greetings, I started looking for scuba forums recently and came across some scubaboard posts that I might respond, so I figured I'd register. I've been interested in scuba diving for some time and always said that if I traveled somewhere known for scuba diving and I wasn't certified, I'd...
