Was at Paradise in May. Wifi was fine in the rooms. Food was ok, grounds were very relaxing. No need to leave (or way to lol). Got like 4 or 5 massages. Guides were good. Reefs very healthy! Lots of small fish. House reef is pretty good at night. Be aware, night dives are ONLY guided...

Yup, this is always my first fear/though when I jump in from any boat. I check my valve, inflate my bcd, and take multipe breaths from primary and secondary regs in case I forgot step 1 and 2.

I'll get it, it's in my airbnb history I'm quite shore. The whole area of hulhumale is underwhelming, so just don't jump to any conclusions. It felt plenty safe. Maldives 'to me' was basically an extension of india... :)

I stayed the night before in hulhumale (where the harbor and liveaboards are). It wsa like $40 and I had the piece of mind of not getting ****** by the airlines. It was nice to relax for a day with the laptop in ac after the long flights.

That's who i used and it was a fun trip to Cano and back.

Should be plenty of time to get to boat. Also, I think alot of the boats dive around that area the first day for people who get in late, or luggage is late by a day. Check with the liveaboard but this was my intuition when I was there. The wifi on our boat was terrible. Get a sim card for...

Yup, even the beaches, beach bars and restaurants, very touristy and trashy IMO.

I stayed a day in Hulhumale, and really didn't find it appealing at all other than just having an air conditioned clean room to relax in after the long flights.

Nothing yet. Just dipping my toe into the whole 'photog' world. Have previously just enjoyed my dives.

What does everyone prefer? Didn't see any results for this specifically, but I can't imagine it hasn't been discussed.

Went in January. boston-istanbul-male. male-istanbul-bos. turkish airways. $950. 10 hour layover each way in istanbul. Great airport though but not 10 hours great :) I also got to Male a day early in case I had arrival or baggage issues. My impression was the liveaboards seem to stay...

Did Taveuni with Paradise, great trip. Reefs seemed in incredibly healthy conditions. Not alot of medium/big fish, but LOTS of fish. A few sharks.

So I think I've decided on this itinerary, and open to anyone poking holes in it. Fly into Cebu late morning, take boat/ferry from cebu city to anda, bohol. 5 or 6 days there. Take ferry back to cebu city, take transfer to maya port, boat to malapascua. 5 or 6 days there. Back to maya first...

This used to always be my worst fear when diving.

Was the visibility normal for this time of year? Or, was it just unlucky timing due to unusual weather perhaps?
