Help with trim-PADI style hover skill

Tracydr, at this point I would suggest that you stop obsessing about hovering in the buddha position & concentrate on simply being able to perform a demonstration quality hover in your most comfortable position. The skill simply says "Hover motionless for 30 seconds". That's it! And if your...

    Wetsuit thickness for Australia

Have you ever considered a shell dry suit? By varying the clothing underneath, it will handle a much wider temperature swing than a single neoprene suit. FWIW,

    Worthington X7 HP 65

I am 5'4" and a steel HP 80 is by no means "too short". In fact, it's much more comfortable & less cumbersome than an AL80. The difference is especially noticeable if you ever happen to do a seated entry with the HP80 vs AL80. Additionally, I have no problems with my dive rite set up & that tank.

    Female Divemaster trainee, Milos, Greece

Uh... no, it's NOT "quite usual offer", unless you are a pimp. ;) I'm with Quero on this one: the OP really needs to come back into the thread & explain why they ONLY want a female AND why a picture is required.

    Worthington X7 HP 65

You got all the "scientific" explanations, but I'd just like to give an opinion based on experience: go for a high pressure steel 80. Why? Because: 1) They hold more air than a 65: if you're already "using up" an 80, why would you want LESS air? 2) They are about the same height/diameter as an...

    I'm thinking of retaking DM.

If you would enjoy getting back into the DM program & ultimately getting your cert, would you also enjoy being a DM? That's basically what you need to ask yourself. Nowadays DMs can do more than just babysit OW students. Here's some of the things you can do as a PADI DM: Divemaster Courses -...

    PADI Medical Form

This is an old thread & things have changed with regard to what constitutes absolute contradictions to diving. There are much better guidelines that take into consideration a person's medical history and the likelihood of a condition having a negative impact on their ability to dive. But again...

    Florida to the Bahamas

It's true... any wind with a "North" component (coming out of the N, NE, NW) will build up the waves. Been there, done that in a 32' Tartan with 25' waves... For weather, a HF or single side band/SSB is needed to pull in the National Weather Service master station out of Norfolk Virginia. Also...

    Florida to the Bahamas

How much time do you have? The "Family" or "Out" Islands offer the most interesting dives. But they will take you a bit of time to get there. Andros Island - extensive reef system on one side; wall dives (Tongue of the Ocean) on the other. Hard to get into unless you have a shoal draft...

Bonaire, What did you wish you knew before you went?

Can you post a link to this? Nothing is mentioned on their website. Thanks,

Keeping Warm... How many layers do you wear?

Drysuit, drysuit, drysuit, drysuit! Yes, others have already said this, it but I thought it well worth repeating. Although I started out diving wet in Ontario, the happiest day of my wet life was when I started diving dry. I went from 25 minutes in 5mm to over an hour in my drysuit. I...

    Florida to the Bahamas

You've already received some good answers, but I have some QUESTIONS: 1) How experienced are you & your friends in offshore navigation & offshore/ocean boating? Do you know about weather windows, the Gulf Stream, how to plot a course factoring in set & drift? 2) Do ANY of you have a USCG 6...

    OW cold issues

The best thing I ever did when diving cold water was get drysuit certified & buy a suit. My only regret was waiting until DMC to do it! Diving wet in Ontario was a nightmare for me. My maximum downtime of 25 minutes hardly made it worthwhile going through all the stress & strain of putting on...

    Equalization methods for beginners

Many moons ago when I was a young guppy I managed to barotrauma both my ears diving off Ft. Lauderdale. After I recovered enough to dive again, my diving physician stressed that people should actually start equalizing their ears BEFORE they get in the water. Basically, during equalization you...

Shallow Diving & Snorkeling in Key Largo

To clarify a bit: our motel is in Homestead, so Largo is really the best situated of the Keys for us. Any other dive suggestions really aren't what I'm looking for (further down on the Keys, Lauderdale, etc.) Again, one of the participants is a snorkeler, and he's only 8 yrs old. So that limits...

Will these boots be alright for diving Bonaire?

The height of the boot is pretty much irrelevant as it's mostly personal preference. What DOES matter is the composition of the sole. It needs to be fairly thick like this: Tabata USA, Inc. - NEW : IMPREX 3MM DIVE SLIPPER [DS-2700]. Why? Because (1) coral marl cuts through soft/flimsy soles...

    Wetsuit and weight gain

I'm with MrPfeffer: 5mm is waaaay too much neoprene for Coz. Not only will it be too buoyant, but it'll be hotter n' Hades. There are definitely some 2-3mms around that would do nicely & be reasonably priced.

Shallow Diving & Snorkeling in Key Largo

Hey, all! We are planning on going down to Key Largo Wed June 20th and coming back Sat June 23rd. Because we are taking down a grandson (snorkeling only) and a friend's son (newly certified Junior Diver) we need to either find some good beach dives, or a dive operator who will accommodate...

"Maybe if the initial complaint were less complainy, I might be a little sweeter too" ???? Ok, how's this: Oh, Great & Powerful Grand Poo-bah of Admin. If it please you, could you deign to look at an issue that this poor untechlike Yooser has experienced? We would be forever grateful & make...

    Whassup with Chat?

Steve, I am running the same version of FF and Java. Today when I took the screenshots the scroll bar was actually visible and it showed about the amount of "history" as you mentioned. Howard, I realize that every time there is an upgrade in software, hardware, whatever, you get pummeled with...
