    Prescription bifocal mask

We are big fans of Seavision. I'd estimate we've been using them about 10 years. They have a good selection of masks & their lenses always seem to be spot on underwater. FWIW, I don't like the tinted lenses. Been there, done that... :ermm: SeaVisionUSA

Help Stop NBC From Promoting Shark Slaughter

As if "reality" TV wasn't already bad enough, NBC is promoting killing sharks on it's new program, "Shark Hunters". Here's the petition to help stop it...

OW to DM (Utila/Roatan or Koh Tao)

I'm sorry, but this is NOT the way to become a proper dive pro. You have it backwards. Save your money & gain dive experience; if you are a good UK diver, you'll be able to handle just about anything. Take a few trips elsewhere for fun and more variety. This process takes YEARS not WEEKS...

    Need help identifying and questions?

As has already been mentioned, you are much better off with a proper octo rather than an Air 2. Because that set up is anything but "simple" when it comes to actually using the A2. JMHO,

    Need help identifying and questions?

I still have a Sherwood Blizzard, circa 1995, in my gear locker. It was my first new reg, after having bought a used Brut from my LDS. They are basically bullet-proof. A balanced reg, although not quite as easy a breather at depth as a scubapro or an abyss from that era. The only way to know...

    Tricks for getting 7MM OFF???!!!

Not so fast, Mr. Chuckles. Pantyhose WORK. When I would dive wet in 5mm, I always had a pair of pantyhose in my bag. Then I substituted lycra tights because I could just keep using them without them falling apart. (Of course that's all in the past since I switched to a drysuit.) Several years...

    Dry Suit Boat Diving Etiquette

I have to admit to very rarely (if ever) putting my suit on before I get on a boat. It's just too easy to get overheated at this time of the year. And unless you are diving a 5mm+ neoprene drysuit, there should be no issues putting it in a regular mesh dive bag with the rest of your gear. IOW...

    BCD replacement at surface method

I usually demo both methods to my students. If you have discovered other method on your own & it is easier for you, then stick with it. Really, it's not an issue. As long as you are in control, you are free to do whatever works for you.

    DIN-Yoke Adapters, reasons to avoid?

If I am going to be in an area for more than 7 days where I know DIN tanks will be scarce or non-existent, I will switch my DIN over to yoke for that time frame. Then I switch back when I get home. Otherwise, I use the adapter. No issues whatsoever.

physical test of divemaster padi, explained in details.

Actually, the part that "seems a bit off" to me is that the last time someone participated in this thread was about THREE YEARS AGO. Yeesh.

    Just ordered my first drysuit

Or NOT. There is no single method for drysuit diving. Some Instructors teach using air in the suit only for insulation & the BC for buoyancy; others teach the opposite where the BC is only used for positive buoyancy @ the surface. It all depends on whichever the diver is most familiar with &...

    Any Ladies using HP80's?

I am referring to this adapter that screws into your DIN tank: Din Valve to Yoke Scuba Tank Filler Adapter These adapters work with my two steel Sherwoods and my steel PST (and my hubby has two 100 steel PSTs). Hope that helps,

    Lapsed membership as DM

What knotical said is a good explanation for PADI Pros. Basically, if you retain your membership, you'll only have to renew your insurance to be "in teaching status". If you go this route you get all the updates & don't need to be retrained. However, if you drop your membership, you'll have...

    Any Ladies using HP80's?

We often travel with a DIN fill adapter in our "save a dive box" for just this type of scenario. In fact, if you don't already own one, get one... in fact get two. Yes, they are about $30 apiece, but they last forever and are well worth the investment. And yes, whenever possible watch people...

    Any Ladies using HP80's?

If she has a BC that she has problems with, she needs to go back to where she bought it & trade it for something that she will be more comfortable using. Then go into a pool or other confined water site & PRACTICE WITH HER DRYSUIT AND THAT BC. Take off that extra weight -- I know she "feels...

    Any Ladies using HP80's?

14 kg AND a steel tank? That is far too much weight! No wonder you think she's having trim issues & swimming in a seahorse posture. No amount of messing with the positioning of the tank is going to help the fact that she is vastly overweighted. Have her do a buoyancy check. Actually, she...

    Any Ladies using HP80's?

Leave her with the HP80; a "slightly longer tank" will do nothing about trim down at her feet. What is wearing for exposure protection? Why do you feel she has "foot heavy trim issues".
