    Lake Huron trip cancelled :(

Drives me crazy when trips get blown out - happens all too often here. Sometimes it makes you feel like you're being messed with when the weather is great all week, then turns to crap on the weekend. Or when the weather is great for most people (clear skies, sunny), but the wind makes it too...

    Apeks 2nd stage purge performance

I currently have 3 Apeks second stages, and the purge performance was poor on all of them - I have buddys who have complained the same. A couple of minutes to adjust the lever height sorted it though :)

Shearwater Perdix Computer Users running Open Circuit...question?

My feeling is that people have changed from a computer they have dived for a long while and are comfortable with, and would like their shiny new Shearwater to behave in a similar manner. So not necessarily setting it to match someone else, but to match another computer (either a backup or their...

First time on a Liveaboard in the Red Sea

I'm going on my second liveaboard with Blue O2 to the Red Sea. Absolutely loved it last year, and the boat was top notch. Lots to see, and many different itineraries to choose from depending on your interests. Lots of wrecks, lots of reefs, or a mixture of both. I can't speak for other...

OPV plug failed open at 120psi

Presumably if the OP is using the reg in question to fill car tyres, there's no 2nd stage on there ;)

    This physically hurts to watch.

At the end. Is the diver struggling to inflate the SMB because he has it upside down?

    Body core temperature and Diving

I guess a question that comes up is; When someone is more tolerant to cold, is it that they truly don't get cold as easily, or they are able to endure being colder than others?

UK diver dead - Truk Lagoon, Micronesia

This incident happened quite a few months ago, and there was a thread here about it. I met Dave a few weeks before his trip, top guy. His brother has posted on Facebook in the past week with the coroners report. Unexplained death, probably medical event. No equipment problems.

To use argon bottle or not?

I remember reading of a case not so long ago of some chap who had serious burns due to Oxygen reacting with a chemical-based suit heater. I believe that was chemical burns though. An obvious source of ignition in my mind would be static sparks from nylon-based under garments.

Leaking dry zip at closing end

Good advice. Unfortunately, the outer zip closes top down, so no chance of having it protect the water tight zip during don/doff. I like the idea of keeping it closed during storage and handling though.

Deep cert or aim for tech

Back to the OP's question, where in the UK are you based? If you're anywhere near South Wales, I could recommend Karl Kruger at Bay Divers (Bay Divers - South Wales Swansea Cardiff Scuba Diving Club TDI PADI TEC) also.

Leaking dry zip at closing end

You're spot on, that is exactly what has happened. It was obvious to me as soon as I compared it to another zip - both sides had completely torn away from the seal. I have glued it up, and quite happy with the results - going for a water test this weekend! I'm not entirely sure how this has...

Leaking dry zip at closing end

I've done around 100 dives in it, had it a little over a year. Not even a droplet of water in until recently. Confusing!

Leaking dry zip at closing end

I have done, and its definitely the culprit. Its not just a small leak - you can actually hear the gas escaping quite clearly :( I should probably mention - the speed at which the gas escapes (at least the sound it makes) changes when you manipulate the zip. Pushing it a little bit seems to...
