Just for completeness, the literal answer to “in practice how to ensure this” is “use a torque wrench, torque to spec.” To pick a scuba example, most reg manufacturers will spec the torque for everything that gets screwed together in a reg.

Incidentally, if anyone knows where to source the correct elastic strap material, I’m interested in that as well, both for Perdix and for other DIY projects.
(I have done some searching, and there’s a lot of elastic strapping that’s not right.)
Do you have a set of the Perdix elastics just gathering dust, because Bungees Are Better? Help a buddy out.
(Yes, I know I can order a replacement set, but with how many people use bungee instead, I figure there must be a supply of them gathering dust, and better to reduce/reuse/recycle.)...
This is a huge mess, compounded by manufacturers who take varying approaches. At the heart of it, imo, is that (iirc), jpeg (and similar) metadata includes time zone, but mp4 does not.
Depending on the camera and photo-management app designer choices, it all goes horribly wrong from there...
Some of you know my previous modular jump spool design from post 31 in this thread; I have recently updated that design with several improvements.
Notably,
-the overall size is increased, allowing better handling with heavy gloves or drysuit gloves
-and although it's bigger, it's thinner for...
Here’s an archive link to the full article: https://archive.is/6nRGD. A little more detail late in the article.
There was mention of a GMA interview; does anyone feel like summarizing relevant details? Curious about more on the separation, curious about equipment rumors (SMBs, AIS/DSC devices,…)
Acrylic sheet against the screen, pot around that (keeping the potting material from flowing over the acrylic)?

Thinking out loud, and there’s sort of two (or more) different questions here. (I figure this is a safe-space for tinker brainstorming.)
Refraction is less effective underwater, so bare glass lenses are less useful than one might hope. I sometimes carry this:

Aaargh. Hoist by my own petard. I keep forgetting how Archive.ph handles pdfs oddly.

I had some trouble finding the manual for the first gen ("Nautilus Lifeline VHF-GPS Radio for Divers") unit, so here's a breadcrumb in case anyone else is looking at some future date.
At the time of this post, I found it at...
I’ve found zero depth-rated general-purpose rectangular boxes. (Which suggests there’s no appreciable reachable market, as third-party GoPro cases demonstrate that effective cases can be made at low cost.)
Cylinders can be found, though. Check out Cylindrical Locking Series (2–8”) Archives...
