my wife and I are booked for April 9th - 16th. this will be our third trip to Curaçao in 18 months. we're staying at Sunscapes again, and doing a mix of boat and shore diving. We've booked 4 days of morning 2 tank boat dives with Ocean Encounters, and we'll do an afternoon and night dive from...
I really like the Atomics. I find them easy to take apart and simple to service, with great quality / fit and finish. They breathe really nicely, and the 2nds are small and lightweight. The Z2 is hard to beat as far as value goes...
sell them for a profit, and re buy the Yonsub version online. they're identical to the Apeks, rebranded and significantly cheaper. I have two pairs here via aliexpress, and can confirm the only difference is the branding. You might even come out ahead, and not have to wear weirdly modified...
we dive all combinations of singles and doubles, wet and dry, local and vacation diving, and quickly realized it's a real PITA to keep readjusting harnesses. Especially since I was responsible for the gear for 2 divers, wearing a wide range of thermal protection. we eventually ended up with 3...
they might possibly be the 495s. they're made to be used with liners, and are apparently more roomy to accommodate this. this allows you to size down and apparently results in less floppy fingers. the rep didn't have them available to try when I asked, but he agreed they might be a good choice.
I've tried a bunch of different showa gloves via samples from the Showa sales rep for my area. I like the 720s best, and then the 660s next. they're both very suitable for my purpose.
I've yet to use the pee valve on my current suit (in 3 years) but still glad I got it done. My wife hasn't used hers, and due to the "female complications" will likely never use hers. With that said, we just ordered our second Novas, and again included the pee valves. It's just too cheap and...
thank God I can get direct flights just about anywhere from Toronto, which is only 45 mins from home. Seeing these trip/flight plans that some of you have to endure is mental.
while there is some shore diving in Tobermory, and the surrounding area, the real draw is the wrecks via boat diving. It's also not what I would consider particularly fishy.
I like gear... a lot. we have lots, between my wife and I, we have....
(4) 3 mm wetsuits
(1) 5 mm wetsuit
(2) 8 mm semidry wetsuits
(2) neoprene tech shorts
(4) Seaskin Novas.
add to this a bunch of dry gloves, various...
I could see a course like this being of interest to someone like me. My local diving is Great Lakes diving, and I spend quite a few weekends during our season up in Tobermory. We dive more or less 2 weekends a month. The best sites there are between 100' and 150' deep, and fairly cold. Think...
