Would you dive with 3 year old nitrox?

my statement was that the age of the gas wasn't an issue, not that it shouldnt be analyzed. Im going to extrapolate that since the OP gave a nitrox reading in %O2 that they were analyzed and labelled at some point by them. I at no point said it was a good idea to dive a "mystery" tank. All...

Would you dive with 3 year old nitrox?

there's a vast difference between a steel cylinder with a 46 year old fill, and an aluminum cylinder with a 3 year old fill. I have aluminum 80s in my workshop right now that have were filled more than 3 years ago. I'd dive them without fretting over it. I know where they were filled, and...

Would you dive with 3 year old nitrox?

I was given a pair of steel galvanized 72s with around 1500 psi in each of them. A friend found them stashed away at an estate sale. Their last visual inspection was in May of 1979 ( the month and year I was born). While I didn't dive the air, I did test them for O2 content and CO. They came...

Lead dive weights in public swimming pools? What about stainless or tungsten shot weights?

it's an old blow molded backplate, commonly used with steel 72s. He's filled it will lead shot...you know, to make it heavy.

Lead dive weights in public swimming pools? What about stainless or tungsten shot weights?

have you considered that the thought of ditching a $17,000 weight belt might be so unpalatable to someone, that they could hesitate to ditch the weight when they might be in trouble? Used lead weight goes for a couple bucks a pound around here, so I'd have no hesitation in letting it slip into...

source for this ultracheap "christolube"? The price for this stuff (christo, tribo,etc...) in small quantities is really getting out of hand.

    OrcaTorch D550 malfunctioning, need advice

i'm not intimately familiar with that particular model but try cleaning all the thread mating surfaces, make sure the springs are in good condition and well affixed, etc... the fact it started working properly once you fiddled with it leads me to believe it might be a grounding or connection issue.

Newbie Jacket to BPW, DR Transplate/OMS Comfort vs OMS Smartstream/Halcyon Cinch

if you're physically only a couple hours from DGX, it would be extremely foolish to not take advantage of that. Great gear at reasonable prices, excellent customer service, and local to you? It's a no-brainer.

    Replacement Low Pressure Fitting Replacements

the fitting works well to shorten the hose, but it's very pricey for what it is. You could always use a regular hose in whatever length and flavor you like, with a separate elbow or swivel.

    Equipment Set Up Etiquette

my wife and I do a lot of charter boat diving, and we dive steel double 100s on steel plates. She's not a large woman by any stretch of the imagination, so we've developed a routine for loading the boat and gear setup. She loads the drysuits, and thermals, and camera gear. I walk the 2 sets...

Dry gloves - with or without drysuit seal?

Kubi rings on 2 Seaskin Novas, Sitech silicone seals intact, and Showa 720s with various liners. I keep the wrist seals in use as the vast majority of my diving is sub 100', and in the 38-42°F range. A punctured glove isn't necessarily a dive ending event with the wrist sealed, and my...

Diving In Tobermory, Ontario, Canada - Adventure Tobermory

I just spent the weekend (4 days) past diving in Toby. We have the season pass, and dive there frequently. The new management is doing a very good job, and has made some very nice improvements. Like Stu said, I'm not sure if you have some weird ulterior motive or something, but diving is...

It's been almost 2.5 years since you've purchased the Junior clone. Any updates on issues you've encountered, problems, failures? I'm wondering just how well they've actually managed to copy the Bauer Junior II, besides appearances. I also noticed your motor is @ 60 Hz... the Aliexpress...

Kubi or Ultima twist for new drysuit.

my wife and i have Kubis on our 4 Seaskin Novas. They've been nothing but excellent. Easy to use, no indexing required, and never had any issues. The suit side with sitech silicone wrist seals, and the glove side (using Showa 720s) have both been flawless. I have no experience with any...
