Amazon eero mesh network & Ubiquiti Point-to-Point Bridge

You’re going to want a wifi access point (not range extender!) connected to the Nanostation on the far side. Configuring it to work with the existing Windstream router is going to be the slightly hard part, but definitely doable. I like Ubiquiti equipment, so I’d put something like the U-6...

DIR- GUE Tec1 with CCR in the making?

Interesting context on this topic (T1 in CCR) from InDepth today:

My Detailed Initial In-Water Impressions of Garmin Mk3i

Adding Average Depth (available in Gauge mode) to literally any field in Single or Multi-gas mode is what I’d love. At the moment, you have to pick between diving in computer mode, or being able to access Average Depth for ratio deco on-the-fly.

My Detailed Initial In-Water Impressions of Garmin Mk3i

Question as a current Mk2i owner - are there any changes to the user-programmable dive fields in single gas/multi-gas dive mode? One of my only complaints about the Mk2i is that you can't add some fields (average depth!) to the customizable screens.

    Review | OrcaTorch TD01 Diving Headlamp!!! 😎

Are there any better pictures of the attachment point on the back of the light? I'd like to try attaching one to a hard Goodman handle...it could make for an incredibly compact backup primary light/travel primary light, if it could be rigged up with a hard Goodman handle.

What type of switch you prefer on dive lights?

Thread on it is here - I’m still not 100% happy with the design, so I haven’t got around to putting it on Thingiverse, but I’ll share the Fusion360 files if anyone wants.

What type of switch you prefer on dive lights?

For backup lights, mechanical rotary switch. For primary (non-video) lights, a locking push button switch works well. Your non-locking switch - even with the software lockout - accidentally turned on so many times that I had to design a guard for it.

For Sale Yoke regulator conversions for Apeks regs

I have a few (I think 4 total?) yoke kit take-offs from Apeks regulators that I've converted to DIN. All used to some extent, but generally still in excellent condition. If anyone could use them, I'll let them go for cost of shipping from Canada (likely somewhere around $20-30 to the US?) + a...

Question Spiegle Grove double dip typical dive time and surface interval?

Looking at my dive computer - my average dive on the Spiegel Grove has been ~40 mins, max depth 30-35m. I’ve done 6 or 7 2-tank visits to the SG with Horizon, and never felt limited on dive time - and that’s with either single 100s or double 80s. FWIW, if you really want to crank the max dive...

    February Diving in Vancouver Island

No, just checking - out by Race for some of those, or around Sidney. I think it depends a lot on which way the current is going at dive time. But yes, let’s go for a dive!

    February Diving in Vancouver Island

I somewhat disagree with this - fairly consistently, the coldest water temperature I see is ~4C at depth in the Strait of Georgia during late winter/early spring, or a little warmer (6-7C) in the Saanich inlet. I just pulled this data with the min temperature per month from my dives around the...

    Sodastream cylinder for drysuit inflation?

You're very correct. I assumed that (like scuba tanks) the pressure written on the cylinder was the working pressure, not test pressure! At 170 bar, it's not really useful for anything except rinsing regulators...

    Drysuit heating controller options

Scaleo-heat is the controller I think you're referring to. It looks like it's out of stock and being replaced with a new version, which is internal to the suit.

    Sodastream cylinder for drysuit inflation?

They do, but we’ve acquired a lot of extra cylinders, when someone is selling/giving away a machine/plastic bottles, they often seem to want to give away the cylinders as well. We have something like 8 or 9 spare in a cupboard, I doubt my partner would miss one or two. Cheaper than an AL6 anyway!

    Sodastream cylinder for drysuit inflation?

Due to my partner’s Sodastream habit, I find myself with access to a lot of functionally free, within-hydro Sodastream cylinders. They’re a little longer and thinner than the typical AL6, with a service pressure of 250 bar and an internal volume of 0.6ish litres, giving them ~5 cubic feet of...

Why would a reg become difficult to breathe from?

I’d be interested in other people’s opinion, but I wonder if it could have been something obstructing the lever, which was knocked loose by turning the Venturi knob. Even a piece of debris in the housing? In theory, high cracking pressure + low gas flow would point towards a problem with the...

Why would a reg become difficult to breathe from?

Here’s a diagnostic question: was it a lot of effort to get any gas to come out? Or was it easy to start the flow of gas, but the volume was not sufficient?

Unpressurised Dry Suit for Shallow Surface Supplied Air Diving

Unscrew the reg from the end of the Airbuddy hose. Screw this into the end. Screw this into that. Attach a regulator and an inflator hose to the Y block. Attach the Airbuddy reg to the end hose, and the inflator hose to your BC. Try not to die! Again, for the record, I think freediving would be...

    New Halcyon Rebreather?

Yeah, that’s my understanding. Seems like a neat idea, and would have a lot of benefits of putting the counterlungs and ADV right next to each other. Actuating the switch to go between OC and CC might be a little difficult in backmount I’m guessing? But seems (to my inexperienced eyes) to be a...

Unpressurised Dry Suit for Shallow Surface Supplied Air Diving

FWIW, I find that freediving in my freediving suit ($400) is warmer than scuba diving in my drysuit + undersuit ($5k+) in 5C water. For what you’re describing, I think freediving is legitimately the answer. With a tiny bit of training, you’ll be able to spend 2+ minutes at 15+ meters - and in...
