    PSA: drill your internal booms

This response makes me quite glad I don't have an ADV.

Question Dry Glove Systems Advice Please!

#1, Agreed, they are stupid expensive. #2, I use the orange high dexterity gloves, and I have had one pin hole in maybe 300 dives. This fixed nicely with Aquaseal. All the other dives were completely dry. Contrast to friends using ring systems, and they seem to be 50/50 dry/wet. Pull overs...

    Time to Desaturation?

My two cents is the flying after diving recommendations are to make sure your not already bent. If I'm not bent, I'm happy following my PDC saturation levels and accent to altitude calculations.

    Oxygen Scientific GREENFLASH O2 Sensor

I've found they need to be in the dark to operate correctly. The original one I bought from Germany came with an engineering sheet that specified this synsativity.

Question Dry Glove Systems Advice Please!

I currently prefer just using the DUI zip gloves. I use the ones without the wrist dam and have had fewer leak issues than any of my buddies using pull overs or ring systems.

I need a robust sidemount rig for cold water overhead deco dives

My harness is a skeleton style like the Razor. The Xdeep upper attachment is triglides for 2" webbing, so simple thread the shoulder straps through. On the low end it has a 2" webbing tail with a bolt hole and comes with the bolt and plate you attach to the crotch strap. I don't use the lower...

I need a robust sidemount rig for cold water overhead deco dives

I made my own harness over ten years ago, and am on my third wing. Make the harness you want with the hardware you want then strap an Xdeep tech wing on it. You can buy just the wing for nearly half the cost of the entire system.

About time for a replacement, but you get the idea. I don't want to add any clutter that may get in the way later.

    High quality bungee cord

I use 3mm for my PDCs and most things. 1.5mm for some things and 8mm for tank loops.

    High quality bungee cord

I've been happy with this stuff. For reference I can't stand the cord Edd sells. SGT KNOTS Marine Grade Bungee Cord - 100% Elastic Cord, Dacron Polyester Bungee Shock Cord for DIY, Tie Downs, Commercial Uses | 1/8" x 100ft, Black - Bungee Cords - Amazon.com SGT KNOTS Marine Grade Bungee Cord...

Technical Dive Guide Certification in 2025 can we ask for Proof ?

I often "casually" guide technical dives for individuals I don't know well. I'm also one of a few people who qualifies divers to access one of our local dive sites. I've decided it's time to carry some professional insurance and am currently pursuing the "TDI Technical Div Master"...

    Deep 6 Eddy Fin

I'm going to be a bit of an a$$. Is an extra check bag really that big of a deal relative to to cost of all your dive gear, certifications, and the trip? On a dive trip, I count on two check bags and a stuffed carryon for each person. Bonus is, in a lot of classes business class is the...

    Wreck Diver Certification (Blindfolded reel-in)

I disagree with the notion that once your in a silt out, buoyancy doesn't matter. The biggest silt out I was ever in took ~10 minutes to exit without any restrictions. Had I simply crawled along the floor, it may have been hours of zero vis trying to get the 2k feet back to the exit. If your...

    Wreck Diver Certification (Blindfolded reel-in)

If you can't read your hud for more than a few minutes, you should go SCR. This still gives you way more time than on OC.

    Wreck Diver Certification (Blindfolded reel-in)

The line is your reference. Make an "OK" around it and if it touches your fingers you know witch way you are drifting. This is one of the reasons you don't try to reel it in during a black out.

    Wreck Diver Certification (Blindfolded reel-in)

Cavern, Intro to Cave, Full Cave, Stage Cave, CCR Cave, CCR Cave TRIMIX, and Cave DPV in my card collection and I was never once asked to pull the reel/spool blind. Leave it behind and come back later if it's important. The line is your buoyancy reference in blackout. When your reeling it in...

Hollis Katana 2 Sidemount max depth

I won't buy anything with sealed airspaces rates less than 200m. This way I don't ever have to worry about it at depths I'm willing to go. Plenty of manufacturers make equipment rated this deep and beyond.

Hollis Katana 2 Sidemount max depth

Max training depth for Full TRIMIX is 330'(100m). This is the limit for dives during training not post training. If I remember correctly just like every other manual it says you can exceed that based on training and experience. There is at least one agency that has an expedition TRIMIX class...
