    GUADALUPE MAY BE CLOSED PERMANENTLY

Wait, you said shark was decapitated? Hmmm...possible cartel hit on shark?

Trip Report Disappointed by the Cabo Dive Experience

This. We did Pelican Rock as our free warm up dive before boarding the Belle Amie and my log reflects the same stuff posted upthread. Cool sand waterfall thing but tons of rando boats everywhere and a massive CF on the surface. Not worth doing, IMO. I would have skipped it but brought a...

    Aquarium in Berlin Explodes

Wonder if they used cardboard, cardboard derivatives, paper, string, or cellotape.

New Teric band - stretchy NATO band

I use a stretchy nato band (Zulu) and it takes about 3 seconds to slide the bottom strap out of the nato buckle and then out of the bottom pin. Then you just slap it on the stock charger.

    Turks and Caicos Trip Planning

I was there last year and spent a few days at Harbour Club Villas diving with Flamingo Divers and then hopped on the Aggressor. Both were great for different reasons, but if you want to pack in the diving it's hard to beat a LOB.

GoPro stolen from checked luggage, Cancun -> SFO flight

Good luck! Hopefully things have changed and/or are airline dependent and work in your favor. Years ago I was coming back from Bonaire and had an electric razor stolen from my checked baggage and the airline wiggled out of reimbursement because it was an "electronic item" and they had a clause...

Trip Report Diving in Galapagos in October 2022

Same...makes a huge difference both in donning/doffing ease as well as feeling warmer since it acts as a slight shield against that still damp wetsuit. Also lycra socks..

Cayman Aggressor: When does it become too much?

Just checked it again and now it is showing down through the end of 2022 with the first sailing in Jan 2023.

    Sudafed in Cozumel with prescription?

I wouldn't normally take it, but had a terrible sinus infection right as I was leaving for Socorro in Jan so I rolled the dice and took it (along with a crapton of other stuff - Mucinex, Flonase, Afrin, NyQuil, Advil, etc.). I had my doc write me a prescription and brought that too figuring I...

Live Aboard Packing- What did you not bring that you wished you had?

Wow, those would be some socks! These are shockingly thin and at first don't seem like much, but they actually hold up well and between them and the foot tape I have had pretty good luck staving off blisters and avoiding discomfort on longer trips. The added ease they bring to donning wet...

Live Aboard Packing- What did you not bring that you wished you had?

I am sure there are quite a few out there and other places to source them rather than Amazon, but here are a couple:

Have SB divers lost interest in GC?

Heading back to GC next year on the Cayman Aggressor. Looking forward to it since I haven't been there in years.

I suspect that's what most of us are doing.. :)

Aggressor bumped me to a different cabin

They have a cool website that is an easy way to see all the LOB options for a particular destination and compare rates but other than that I can't really think of anything..

Aggressor bumped me to a different cabin

IMHO, it's kind of a racket. The whole system relies on you buying trip insurance as the way to protect yourself which is in and of itself another sort of racket. There must be some threads on here somewhere about people going through their CC dispute process, but I can't recall if I have ever...

Aggressor bumped me to a different cabin

Totally agree on this last bit.. I booked with liveaboard once. Lesson learned. They provide no discount over booking directly and all they do is pass questions/concerns back and forth between you and the LOB company. I'd either book with a real travel professional that can advocate for you...

Downsides of being cheap, sharing examples

I have a buddy that went real cheap on lodging despite multiple reviews mentioning the place was a dump and had bedbugs. His response - "well, you can't really trust online reviews". Whole family got bedbugs.

Do we have no recourse with airline scales?

lol.. "Sir, what do we do with this dumbbell now? Your bag was 50# on the dot so you can't take it with you." "Keep it. It was cheaper than the overweight bag fee..."

Do we have no recourse with airline scales?

Another thing I do is use packing cubes/stuff sacks for everything. That way I can easily move a pound or five between bags without dumping all my dirty underwear on the floor at the ticketing counter. Been there done that and it's no fun.

Do we have no recourse with airline scales?

If you are cutting it too close you can't do this, but I have started undershooting my digital scale by at least 5 lbs. As you point out, the discrepancy between airports/countries is pretty large.
