I note a few posts in here talking about not overfilling steel 72s -- they are made to the same safety standards as other 3AA steel cylinders, and the wall thicknesses aren't too different. Theoretically they should be able to withstand an overfill %-wise the same as other 3AA cylinders...
Walter hits the nail on the head. Deefstes is incorrect. While the absolute buoyancy will be different, the amount of buoyancy swing from full to empty in cylinders that hold the same volume of air will be roughly identical.
For example:
Luxfer Al80 (3000psi, 77.4cf): -1.4lbs full, +4.4lbs...
I am under the impression that was Andrew Georgitsis in the video (could be wrong) and if it is, I'm fairly certain he's experienced enough to know he was moving his fins. ;)
That video was filmed in the Red Sea...no one can stay perfectly still where there is moving water, if you want to...
I took NAUI Cave 1 and rather enjoyed the class. I like the limits -- note that it isn't forcing you to dive 1/3rd's, only giving you the option (and it is technically "thirds within no-deco limits") so you have to plan your dive to stay within NDLs.
The hydro date on any new Worthington cylinders should be plainly visible. Unlike some other cylinder companies, they use nice big regular lettering for all their scuba cylinder markings...
It would probably be best if you gave us the diameter (or circumference, we can figure out the diameter from that ;)) and height. Weight would be good too, but not necessary.
To expand on this, a standard Hog rig will have 5 d-rings:
(2) chest d-rings -- backup lights, reg when not in use, deco/stage bottle neck gets clipped off here as well.
(1) left-hip d-ring -- SPG, butt-clip for stage/deco bottles
(1) crotch d-ring -- attaches to scooter. I also use it as a...
I've only found one dive shop that had this finish, and they had 4 cylinders. I could only afford one Al80 at the time, so I have this loner Al80 in the 'natural' finish. I wish I could find another one, or two, or three...
Brushed -- retains the look over time (other than getting slightly more dull). I just don't like the texture of the shot blast tanks. I have also read that the shot blast tanks have issues with stickers staying on the cylinders but have no direct experience with this.
I use a ss backplate and 119 in a 3mm suit with no extra weight (ok maybe my can light if you want to include that) and I'm fine. But I don't use a zillion pounds of weight either...
