Sorry guys that was pretty poor forum ettiquete on my part.:dork2: I always forget to do a search first... Boy was Guba right... apparently I'm not the first person to ask about this! Thanks for your responses... this was really helpful!

My wife is considering getting certified and she asked me a question last night that I didn't know how to answer so I thought I'd post to the board and get some opinions.
Here vision is fairly poor and she has to wear contacts. Short of getting a mask with optical inserts can one dive with...
Maybe a little late but in retail this is what we call a loss leader... usually it's an item or service that you offer at cost or even a small loss that gets traffic into the store. My LDS actually offers Free air Fills on Friday and Saturday for anyone who puts a front Licence plate on their...
Hey is the Angel in the center of the picture the Angle with the creepy Gene Simons make up? I have not seen most of the status in the pic and am trying to orient myself...
Boy I feel pretty fotunate... My LDS has been nothing but great to me... maybe b/c I did my OW with them but I have brought them used gear to inspect and even brought in a reg and octo that my wife got me for christmas from Divers Supply (they are NOT an Oceanic dealer and told me they couldn't...
I'm comfortable in 3mm in water from 70 degrees and warmer. My little girl on the other hand is skin and bones and pretty senitive to cold so she starts to get chilly below at around 75 degrees so I'm probably going to get her a 5mm suit this spring... we didnt spend much time in deep water...
yeah.. i was planning to wait until things warm up (I only have a 3mm wet suit now unless the Easter bunny brings me a 7mm or I get one for my B-day). I read your post about Bon Terre... you may have scared me away from that experience! :shocked2:

My daughter and I have been planning wanting to dive Oronogo as well... we're about 1.5 hours south so let me know if you need dive buddies.
Cheers!

Avon,
I'm about 90% sure my whole family will be down there on Memorial day weekend... My daughter and I would love to dive with you if you are going to be out that way... we usually rent the big DivePro boat so there's plenty of room.
If you think you might head down sooner than that let me...
Mellow Mushroom is in north fayetteville just off of Joyce on the east side of College Ave. It would be fun to go have a beer/pizza with you guys on of these days
Yeah that's exactly what I learned... that the folks selling almost always thought the equipment was worth more than it was... case in point the co-worker I was talking about wanted $650 for a reg/Octo... the Dive shop said if he took it in and reconditioned it he'd sell it for $150...
I probably didn't phrase that fairly... here's what happened... on one occasion I found some gear on craigs list that turned out to have been purchased in 1986 so I passed and on another occasion a co-worker offered to sell me a regulator/Octo/computer that he said was used once and he wanted...
