I did a night dive on my AOW in the lake I always dive in. It was like diving a brand new site and a wonderful experience... I'll be doing a lot of night diving from here on out! I can't imagine how cool in must be in the ocean!
Yeah... I did AOW this weekend and the digging was a nuisance. The LDS owner suggested trying some non abrasive toothpaste... I used a little aqua fresh (didn't seem gritty to me) and it did help some
Bill, I'm out of town this weekend but am for sure diving on the following weekends... I don't care if we have to hoof it or if we have a longish surface swim... I just want to dive... Screw the jackasses in DC
All true and reasonable especially if you don't have a place where you can dive locally and dive often. The Dominican Republic soounds wonderful (most gear rents for $40-$50/day that i've seen) If you can get a full set for $5 a dive I say go for it. And you are correct about buying something...
I'm hearing the North Dam site Park and picnic area where we all shore dive is closed due to the government shut down:depressed:... can anyone confirm?
Cheers!
Steve
I'll probably get flamed for this but I'll throw my $0.02 in anyway. If money is a consideration (and it always is for me) I'd much rather see a new diver invest in a good regulator, BCD, wetsuit etc. before buying a computer. I say this because you don't necessarily need a computer to dive...
I grew up in Southern MD (St. Mary's County) on the western shore of the bay. I lived in Towson for a few years for college then set off to see the world! I prefer my computer to be on my consol... I did have it as a wrist mount but kept forgetting to strap it on... doh!
Sweet!! Annnd now the real learning begins!!! The best thing you can do is dive, dive and dive some more.... If finances are tight get a inexpensive computer like a suunto zoop or an oceanic veo and a cheap watch ... I keep my Plastic RDP in my BCD (that's my back up computer).
Have fun...
I thought the same thing... that the lenses would be clean... baby shampoo has always worked as a great de-fogger for me but it didn't work at all. Love the mask though... it's incredibly comfortable ... doesn't leak a bit and I have a mustache!! If I can just get the lenses clean I'll be in...
I'm going to give my +1 to weight integrated but as with most equipment it's a matter of opinion and what you are comfortable with... I say if you've tried both and like a weight belt better then dive with a weight belt.
I mostly dive Beaver Lake and to me 15ft is great so yeah...I'm skewed as well...then again when I dive in the keys an absolutely beside myself with 75' of viz.
Crazy question but I recently replaced my old mask and got a Scubapro Spectra Mask with tinted mirrored lenses. The mask came with a warning not to clean it with abrasives or use chemicals on it. I assumed that the residual material left on the lens as part of the manufacturing process must be...
Deep Dive, Navigation, Night Dive, Peak performance Bouyancy and Search & Recovery!!! FINISHED AOW this weekend. Next up RESCUE in the spring!!! Can't wait!!
Early congrats and welcome to the dive tribe!! I have a luminox that I dive with and love... not cheap or expensive. I think around $200 on amazon. Don't get anything with buttons and if you do don't press thim under water!! Good luck this weekend!
