I've done all the PSI classes and I VIP tanks for my shop. I know Instructors, including me, who put the DAN O2 Rescue Paks in their vehicles before going off to teach or dive.
This question may be worthy of a separate thread. Would it be advisable for an agency to develop exercises to train student divers to deal with this siuation?
Mammalian Diving Reflex, as I understand it, relates to a slow heart and breathing rate that occurs due to cold water immersion, but I am not an expert. I would welcome an expert opinion from any expert reading this.
Hank, thank you for posting. By posting here, you are helping other divers. You did just fine. It was a learning experience.
You would be an excellent Divemaster if you ever decide to go that route.
Keep diving.
He would not have done anything differently? Well, something went wrong and it wasn't an Act of god.
How about carrying a good Surface Marker Buoy? Three boats could not see him, so, gee, I have to wonder about his SMB deployment. How about about not becoming separated from his dive boat? And...
Diving in the area is bit cold now, but we have active groups. Most are unofficial groups of friends who dive and dine together.
During the Summer, NC diving can be quite good. The water is warm, but the boat rides can be long (2 and a half hours). ther are actually two German U-boats that...
Molasses Reef is shallow, yes? As I recall, it's about 27 feet in depth. I could be wrong about this. Can anyone provide information about the location of the sinking.
It was not Highland's duty to look for other divers other than her buddy.
She offered and the offer was declined. As Don indicates, pushing it would have been, well, meddling and officious. (There's a special place in Hell for the officious.)

Thank you, Highland.

Thanks, Don, for your service.

Keep diving.
These are good questions. Can someone please shed some light on this.
I had met Amy several times and had the impression that she was an experienced diver but I have no actual knowledge of her experience level.
Wow. Thank goodness that you made it out of that dive okay.
Where was the dive?
I would have been very scared.
Skill and luck. You did a good job keeping your wits about you and cutting the monofilment line. Good for you!
Sometimes that steel line, won't cut.
What if you...
