Afternoon shore dive guide in Curacao

We regularly use both Ocean Encounters and The Dive Bus. Happy with both. OE also offers boat dives and has a full service shop at Lions Dive hotel. If you are staying at Lions Dive, there is a great shore dive from their beach. Just wade out, drop down and follow the rope west. There are often...

    Another BP/W Recommendation

I dive Halcyon too. Something to watch out for: the wing nuts can work loose. I replaced them with Delrin nuts

    El Moro needs help

El Moro fan here. Great food, bargain prices, family atmosphere. I think I had a long conversation with someone (Rey?) there about Morocco. Someone in the family was originally from Morocco and the camel is a memory of home.

Info First trip to St Croix. Looking for opinions and trip reports

Fredricksted pier is great for macro critters. Search for trip reports. Cane Bay Area for reef. Not really a wall like Caymans. You will need a rental car.

Extremely BAD News: Dutch Springs likely closing permanently ...

The article has no specifics. It would be nice to see PADI make an investment to benefit and support East coast divers, but I'm not holding my breath (well-trained by PADI!).

    Most Expedient Route to DM

To assure getting paid (modestly) in Diving, you would need to become an Instructor, a diesel mechanic, a web developer and a boat captain. Those qualifications would likely get you hired almost anywhere. There are lots of DMs and AIs and very few get paid more than a very low wage plus tips...

Three Chicago Fire Department divers hospitalized

Kind of unhelpful conclusion that the diver ran out of air. Begs the question of why an experienced, professional diver would do so. He had a pressure guage and used it earlier. He was in less than 16 feet of water, although he may have been working hard. And he had a pony bottle, and "buddy"...

Trip Report Scuba Gear Suddenly Not allowed as carry on from Cozumel

I've never had a problem carrying on "high-end" camera gear, strobes, DC, regs into or out of CUN and CZM. Occasionally, I've had a large, metal, telephoto lens flagged and rescreened, but never denied any of the foregoing for carryon.

Extremely BAD News: Dutch Springs likely closing permanently ...

How about PADI buys it, making an investment to support the NE diving community? I can dream…

Need help with dive bag/Travel bag?

I've used a range of bags: Samsonite type; large, square soft-sided general purpose luggage; Stahlsac roller, etc. My 2 cents : wheels are most important and fail first. A relatively inexpensive bag with good wheels should last as long as the more expensive bags. Weight is next most important...

New Shearwater AI transmitter - the Swift

A few years ago, I made the mistake of overtightening the battery compartment cover on one of my transmitters. When I tried to open it with a quarter, I only succeeded in digging into the (relatively) soft cover material. Shearwater said to send it to them. Within a week they sent me back what...

New regulator very cheap on ebay

"...will I be taking a safety risk ordering this cheap 3rd party?..." Well, yes you will. How big a risk and what can you do to lessen it? Can you find a local shop that would be willing to inspect and, if necessary, repair it? Is this make/model known to have issues (one of the experts on SB...

    Another BP/W Recommendation

Different question: I replaced wing nuts with Delrin nuts. Do I need a lock washer to prevent the Delrins from loosening?

    Post-trip photo and video sharing

Can multiple users upload to the same Flickr account? I don't think so. So its not the best option for the OP's case of 20 folks wanting to share their pics.
