Per their website, the quarry is still covered in ice! Most every in NW OH and SE MI still solid in ice but that may change after this weekend. Suppose to get in the 50s, so we may be in for a thaw. I think it will be several weeks before Gilboa is OW again.

All, Gilboa may still be iced over, we are going to have to check closer to the date. Can tell you the temp here this week is single digit at night and only teens and low 20's during the day. This is going to be a very long winter! But count me in if anyone wants to dive that weekend.:cold:

Nitrox J, Great pictures of the quarry before it filled up. Just an fyi, my family was in the explosive business back when that picture was taken, and my father was the one setting off the explosives for Gilboa. As a kid, use to go with him to Gilboa when it was a working stone quarry.

Chickdiver, Got to agree with you on this one. I, too, dove Nohoch when you had to walk in to experience this cave. This also limited the number of divers to 5 per day! This was one memorable experience, and I, too, do not think it will ever be the same. I guess some call this progress.

Oh but if you have never dove the Great Lake's shipwrecks you don't know what your missing!!!!! Wooden boats that went down over 100 years ago, intact, and ready to be explored. You don't know what your missing! Besides, none of that saltwater to mess up your gear.
