    Luxfer 14cuft 2015 psi Cylinder - discussion

Attached is a report of an analysis/evaluation that the DOT contracted back in 1997 after failure of a Luxfer 3AL2015 cylinder. The report confirms the speculation, in this discussion thread, that these cylinders were made from 6351 alloy and that the 3AL2015 cylinders were (are), at least...

    No Bleed Valve SPG?

    No Bleed Valve SPG?

One would rotate the part circled in red to release the pressure of the setup you depict. The OP supposedly concocted something using a similar yoke adpater, an HP gauge, and some kind of HP quick release mechanism, so they apparently have no pressure release mechanism in place. -Z

    No Bleed Valve SPG?

Perhaps you can disrupt the connection enough to bleed off some pressure by closing the cylinder valve and then freezing the yoke adapter...turn one of those cans of electronic duster upside down so the liquid propellant comes out...or maybe pack dry ice around the valve and carefully heat the...

    No Bleed Valve SPG?

There is no hose to speak of in this case. The OP attached a gauge directly to a yoke adapter, and then connected the adapter directly to the valve of their cylinder. There is no hose, no first stage, etc. -Z

Converting Sitech Shoulder Dump to Cuff Dump – Tips Needed

Really? Are you? You comment quoted above is inconsistent with your comment quoted here below: How can you be "totally convinced" and still need "detailed instructions" on how to make the modification in your suit you are looking to make?: SMH -Z

mares xr 28 HR no online pressence

This is really personal preference. Some folks will look at the rotating turret of the 28XR as a possible additional failure point and say the 62X is the better way to go. Others will look at how they dive and want to configure their hose routing and look at the 28 XR as the better way to go...

Brand new to diving- just doing my online PADI stuff. Losing weight- can I only rent equipment?

Congrats on getting started with diving. The folks above all have good advice but one thing you should know above all else....don't dive with Bob, he is super dangerous! -Z

Suunto transmitter battery: Varta vs Saft

One other thing to note when deciding which battery to use, is that the 1/2AA needed for the Suunto transmitter has the nub that is normally associated with the positive end of the battery instead on the negative end of it....I am in no way pushing the Varta battery but do want to point out that...

    Custom vs Off-The-Rack Dry Suit

If you expect changes in body size as you explained, then I would recommend looking for a Whites Fusion or Aqualung Fusion drysuit as your son's first suit. The Fusion drysuit is a 2 piece suit...the first piece is the core of the suit that is a waterproof membrane material that is designed to...

Suunto transmitter battery: Varta vs Saft

The Suunto transmitter needs a 3v 1/2AA battery. To my knowledge the Saft 1/2AA battery only comes as 3.6v....distilling the information that I have read over the years is that folks have killed their Suunto transmitters by installing a Saft 3.6v 1/2AA battery. This has led me to religiously use...

    Custom vs Off-The-Rack Dry Suit

If your body morphology is such that you fall into the typical size range for off-the-rack suits as you mention, and they fit you well, and they have the features you want, and the price is good, then purchase an-off-the-rack suit....if not, then go custom. My wife went with a custom...

    Ideal BP&W for short/small divers

I recommend Sub-Gravity. My wife is 5'2" and my oldest daughter is 5'0", they both have Sub-Gravity short stainless steel plates and love them. They fit their shorter stature much better compared to the standard size plates they dived with prior to purchasing the short plates. -Z

Question Faber sold in Europe can't be tested in the US?

You need to read 49 CFR 171.1(d)(6): § 171.1: Applicability of Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR) to persons and functions. 171.1(d) : Functions not subject to the requirements of the Hazardous Material Regulations. The following are examples of activities to which the HMR do not apply...

Question Faber sold in Europe can't be tested in the US?

Just to be clear about a couple of things...perhaps this is just semantics or being pedantic but it is good for discussion: If you are a recreational diver, transporting your own cylinder(s), the total weight of the cylinder(s) + gas is less than 1000lbs, and there is no "commerce" activity...

Question Faber sold in Europe can't be tested in the US?

You might want to change a few words in your small claims court filing. There is nothing illegal about "using" the tanks you purchased....you can certainly "use" them. The fact that they can't be transported in a vehicle, (re-)inspected, or otherwise serviced due to DOT and industry regulations...

    Advice on wetsuit purchase

No. A good fit can really only be experienced. One must try some suits on and compare fit. It should not be "as snug as can be". Realistically, the suit should fit with the following in mind: 1. It should hug the body without being "tight" or restrictive. 2. One should have nearly full range...
