    DC Local Dives

Went past two weekends to Lake Phoenix. It was nice! Water is warming up. I think it was lower side of 60s at 30ft and 70 at surface. Didn't download my computer yet so don't have it with me. I found out that the fish will chase a laser pointer like a cat. Pretty odd.

    DC Local Dives

Hoping to get out to Phoenix myself this weekend to start off the 2020 Coral Edge Adventures runs Millbrook Quarry. I don't see anything on their calendar but that doesn't mean they're not doing training. Not sure what is up there. AFAIK no Juturna until one of the J months at minimum? Dutch...

Whats going on at Rebreatherworld.com right now?

A friend helps run the internet archive, they do awesome stuff. But a lot of time the web crawls (especially on dynamic content like forums) doesn't capture everything. File attachments are one thing often omitted. Plus it's not easy to search through since the original RBW search tools would...

Most Expensive Rebreather in the World?

I have a CCR where I've always wondered if it was anti-magnetic. The tank seems like a standard aluminum luxfer or something though. Came with this odd tactical vest type BCD. o2 only. OMG / Castoro Italy?

The New Dive Rite Optima CM - My 30 Hour Review

Seems like a nice compact unit. Shame the price point didn't move down any.

Is Sherwood Magnum 2 same as Tusa Liberator Plus?

I liked my Sherwood way back when as the skirt was really good. Just curious if the Tusa and modern Sherwood are the same.

Whats going on at Rebreatherworld.com right now?

I used to read RBW all the time. Bummer. Could someone PM me Sotis's email address? I am interested in trying to archive the site for information preservation. Who owned it before him? I googled around but most of the e-mail addresses I found are probably dead.

The New Dive Rite Optima CM - My 30 Hour Review

Woah, interesting move from Dive Rite! I have a Castoro / OMG C96 which is like a Lar V, it's kinda strange. But oh so compact. How is flood resistance on the Dive Rite? The C96 would flood pretty much immediately if mouthpiece was yoinked out.

Is Sherwood Magnum 2 same as Tusa Liberator Plus?

I used to own a clear silicone Sherwood mask, and the skirt was great. Good seal and comfortable. It turned yellow, and I tossed it. I didn't know it was possible to un-yellow it using the "retrobrite" method I now use for vintage computer plastics. I have a black skirt Tusa and Mares X-Vision...

    Oceanic USB Interface Protocol

Better late than never I guess... the oceanic cable I bought for my versa pro had a pic microcontroller in it. It was made by a 3rd party for oceanic IIRC. I have a picture of the inside somewhere I will link to later. So it might not be too straight forward, but using usbsnoop on windows with...

Wreck diver killed by leaking computer - UK

If the handset floods, is there a possibility that the cable that leads to it could pass water down it? I know a friend's unit had a crack in the cable and he was getting water in the battery box of his unit. On a Shearwater CANBus based unit, I would think that the handset passes the setpoint...
