Anyone looked at Shearwater CANBus Protocol?

tbone1004 - Awesome info! So that means anything created to replace the HUD needs to be able to pass message back to the OBOE to trigger calibration. Much thanks for the info!

Anyone looked at Shearwater CANBus Protocol?

I have a similar Rigol DSO as well, with the protocol decoder unlocks. A smart friend said the decoders don't work very well. I ended up ordering a DSLogic Basic, which can use the DSView software or the Sigrok tools. Friends also pointed me to the Travis Goodspeed CANBus tools, but from quick...

Anyone looked at Shearwater CANBus Protocol?

Oh interesting! I wish that diagram was in the Prism2 manual. The people I asked didn't know how things were laid out inside (System architecture) so I ended up taking the unit apart to see. I asked if the protocol was open at the DC Dive Show and was told no. I doubt they want work-a-like...

Anyone looked at Shearwater CANBus Protocol?

Has anyone poked at the Shearwater CANBus protocol? I have a Prism2 and always wondered about something like a DIY NERD2 that only has PPo2 and depth information on it. There are some cheap OLED Color screens out there that are tiny. Microcontrollers with CANBus are cheap. The optics side is a...

Camcorder housing reused - Underwater RGB LASER Projector

RGB LASER show projector built to fit a recycled Ikelite Sony Camcorder Housing. It was raining all day so the quarry was fairly cloudy. I definitely need to change a lot of the patterns after seeing how they look in the water. 500mW total (R+G+B) (Class IV Laser output) so not eye safe...

Waterford Garda dead - County Wexford, Ireland

Unfortunately the Shearwater electronics used on CCRs lack any audible (beep) or mechanical (vibrate) alert when things are in the red. The HUD is in your FOV, and should be blinking red but I wonder if it's possible at large hours to grow accustomed to it and miss it. No idea why Shearwater...

First Rebreather - Used Prism 2 - Good Instructor - Is it OK ?

I am a new Prism2 diver (50 hours or so) and my unit has the BOV plumbed to the dil tank. Are you talking about plumbing the BOV to the bailout? Using a quick disconnect or something? Usually the training process involves handing off and/or ditch + retrieving the bailout tank.

Wanted Sony mpk-trb or other large old camcorder housing

Hello! I ended up buying one off of eBay. So far, I've built the projector and managed to finagle enough battery power to drive the electronics. There is a part I ordered from China that got lost by the USPS, so I had to double up the batteries. I will post about it over in DIY soon. I took it...

First Rebreather - Used Prism 2 - Good Instructor - Is it OK ?

The Prism2 counterlungs are strong enough to act as the harness if you wish, but then when you hang a bailout from the D-rings on the counterlungs it hangs really low. I ended up adding a harness back on mine. Another thing you can look into is if the electronics have the 3 LED HUD or the 12...

    ANOTHER ALTERNATIVE FOR REBREATHER SENSORS

Fairly new CCR diver, but an electronics geek. Finished Prism2 cert last summer, I am at maybe 30 hours now. My original DGX (AI?) were due for replacement so I picked up a set of 3 from OxyCheq. First, no born on / death by date printed on the label unlike the DGX ones. This could be...

What do you love and what do you hate about your unit?

Fairly new CCR diver. Experience is a few dives on OMG C96, one Optima dive and I have a Prism 2 OTS CL Shearwater canbus electronics. Good: - Common o2 sensors - Pretty decent support market for it - Hollis replied to any emails I sent - The clear canister lets you see if there is water...

One dead, one missing (since found), 300 foot dive - Lake Michigan

Old thread, but I ran across a posting from a family member with more details on this at divermag.com (Rebreather Fatalities - DIVER magazine.) Turned up in a google search, IIRC it was two rEvos. I'm adding it to this thread for the sake of keeping records together and because it provides more...

Wanted Sony mpk-trb or other large old camcorder housing

Looking for an underwater housing or two for other geek projects. I'm looking for large underwater housings for cameras that people no longer care about. Instead of making my own waterproof box, I figure I can re-use something like the Sony MPK-TRB or similar. Old Sony Hi-8 or 8MM. Any vendor...

    Oxygen Sensor Fundamentals

Interesting presentation. I knew a good bit of the info but did pick up some interesting stuff. With regards to these solid state sensors from Poseidon: Poseidon It says a dye reacts to the O2 and there is color change. Are they sampling this with a CCD and a light source or something? How...
