Hello! I haven't seen anything like that from the shops up here.
When I lived in Virginia Beach/Norfolk LDC would do them once in a while but I think it was the shop selling their excess not open to the public to sell stuff. Been a long time.
I would think the shops don't like used market...
That is a whole lot of courses that for the most part still won't cover what is in the 15 page manual that comes with the C96 says about how to build and dive it :-)
If OP is competent at reading he could use the US Navy diving manual, O2 CCR section. The PDF is free, not behind a paywall and...
@Angelo Farina Much thanks for the info! It's like Antiques Roadshow Scuba edition!
I never dive the unit past 20ft, and I do purge the loop a few times first. Also, I do air breaks as you describe (I think I read about them in Mastering Rebreathers or from the NOAA/US Navy manuals) but will...
The tactical BCD thingy, Front. CCR clips onto the 4 clips, top two are slightly larger than bottom two. Bottom seem to be 40mm ITW Nexus, Top might be 45mm
Included carrying case. Has a padded panel as well. Silver things are the fill adapters I had to source from the UK.
Tactical BCD...
Hello!
Backstory
--------------
Sooo. I actually have a Castoro C96 from O.M.G. in Italy, which I think is the unit you are talking about. I saw it years ago on RebreatherWorld.com, thought it looked cool and had an ebay search. I will post pictures of it this evening.
Similar to the LAR V...
I swear there was a similar issue a while ago (I probably read it on here) where someone gave their kid a pony that was full of argon for drysuit inflation. They were able to revive though, but it was a close call.
Ah interesting! The thing is, I don't want to do anything to hurt the integrity of the connectors and I would be afraid even thought he wire is super thin, I could end up deforming the walls of the pins. And then water could get in. Also, the connectors disconnect with a solid pop noise which is...
Started trying to poke at this last week. So far I've established pin #1 (which is the center bottom pin on the 5 pin connector) is tied to system ground.
The next issue I have is the connectors used. They're pretty sexy, but in my mind I could back it out part way and access the contact to...
Hello! I did end up finding one of these housing and reused it for a laser projector.
You should be able to drop any kind of camera in there, something more modern and digital. I would make sure that it is waterproof first. In my case the housing didn't have the seal in the proper position and...
I tried to RX the transmissions while troubleshooting my Perdix AI xmitter. I was using an ICOM pro 756 II HAM radio and I saw nothing, even with the end of the coax up against the transmitter. It has a spectrum analyzer type function... nothing. The 38KHz frequency is at the very bottom of what...
I took mine (Prism2) apart a while ago when I couldn't really get info on the architecture of the system. As I recall (I posted pics on here actually), the o2 cells feed two separate PCBs. One has the ADC for the HUD, the other has the ADC/solenoid driver for the handset if I recall??? I'd have...
Saw this on the Prism2 facebook group -- didn't see it mentioned on here. This is a direct copy/paste from facebook.
AST REBREATHER SENSOR ISSUE
As a number of divers are aware, AST has had issues with some of their sensors not reaching higher PPO2s and reacting slowly resulting in them being...
I actually own an O.M.G. / Castoro C96. Jale - you mention you have the same unit? I may need to order parts for mine.
I thought the design looked cool so set an eBay alert on it. Years passed and it triggered. One finally showed up. Turned out the prior owner used it to escape the country of...
Internet Archive doesn't require subscriptions or anything.
Interesting. Yea I was looking again (I researched this stuff years ago) at various ways to capture the content without harming the magazines as someone might let me borrow a years worth. Flatbed scanning (which is what I have now)...
It doesn't have to be the complete collection end to end. Who cares. Right now it seems there is zilch out there. In general it is my guess there just isn't nearly the interest in archiving SCUBA stuff as there is in the vintage computer stuff and vintage radio and audio stuff.
In the vintage...
I visited the Diving History Museum with a buddy a few weeks ago. He was commenting on their periodical collection, and I suggested to him that much of it is likely scanned an online via the Internet Archive or other resources. I checked around to show him, and to my surprise none of it is...
CRAP! I thought I finally had one on him, you are right. I didn't scroll down far enough (I did check but just saw the NTSB thread and others.)
