    Who is actually cave diving?

I rarely took sides in this debate until weekend before last. Our little team was invited to check out some sites by a landowner. A big complement and a trust we plan on honoring. So imagine our surprise and disgust when we found line left in from a previous "sneak" dive. The owners were...

How many on this board use or have used OMS equipment ?

I've heard that before, but I've had no problems with them. My wings came with no instructions, so they faxed me a set the day I called. Every other question I've phoned or emailed to them has been similarly handled. On the other hand, obtaining parts from some of their retailers has been...

Are there any Andrea Doria dreamers out there?

but there are other wrecks I'd rather see, Like the WW 1 Gerrman fleet at Scapa Flow, the Gunilda, and the Justicia. Still, there is that allure. Dive safe, Brock

Bikini Atoll, deep air for everyone

Oh. Duhhh. Weekend of the 11th I'll be at Mine laMotte with trainees. This weekend I'll be busy doing some caving and survey training. Wisconsin sounds great! I'll definitly take a raincheck! Best rule of thumb for springs is to check the local weather around Ft Leonard Wood for...

Bikini Atoll, deep air for everyone

even if it means paying more and getting a slightly hypoxic mix. Safety is my primary reason. Ther first time I dove to the lower tunnel at roubidoux and could not only function but remember the dive, with no paranoia (my main symptom of being "narced") I was sold. So much so that I learned...

    Inspiration prices in UK/US?

I'm glad you brought this up- I'll be in the market for an Inspiration in a year, so this thread fills in alot of the blanks in the ordering/obtaining training process. I downloaded the manual from the Inspiration website and have been reading it as I go along to familiarize myself with the...

    wetsuit poll

LOL I've never heard it put quite that way, but it's pretty much true. 4 things to remember when "becoming one" 1- don't let ego get in the way of a good fit 2- shave 3- go in spurts 4- don't let yer tube kink. I just got a custom made Northern Diver Tech. Ive done some tryouts, but...

    Deep Diving

Actually, There was a great Canadian tech site run by Steve Lewis. It went away, but the message has been carried on in 2 Yahoo Groups. It was on Steve's Techdiver.Com site that I first heard of Hogarthian and places such as the Jodrey and the Gunilda. This was about late '99, early '00...

OK Yoop, that settles it. Even if it's just you and I, we're chartering Abyss for a trip to Mackinaw during DA UP trip. The website blew my socks off. I even promise NOT to use my OMS wings!;) They obviously know their way around techdiving. You on Barnacle's email list yet? dive...

Freediving fins for Open Water Scuba?

Dan Volker in Florida has often advocated using freediving fins for openwater, calling them the "poor man's scooter". I've a buddy who swears by them, too. I have a chance to buy an open heel pair that can take spring straps so I'm anxious for testimonials and opinions. Dive safe Brock

Dry Suit - Neoprene or shell - which is better (with poll :))

I agree with you, wrecNcaver. I have, courtesy of Bob3, a Viking Extreme for Open Water and wreck diving, and a Brand new, not tried out yet, custom made, Northern Diver "tech" suit for cave diving. With the Viking I have zero bouyancy surprises and avoid the extra weight of a wet neo suit...

    OMS Redundant Wings

=-) First Off, and I'll take some flack for this, I have and do use the OMS dual bladder wing FOR OPEN WATER ONLY. Here are some Observations of my own, pro and con 1. overall build quality is good, better than Dive Rite IMO, but not up there with Halcyon. For specific applications it...

    Need examlpes

=-) Don't want much do ya? I plan my mixes on 3 things 1- team standards. We all use standard bottom and deco mixes to avoid ugly surprises when air sharing 2- pO2. Need to keep that to a reasonable minimum to avoid CNS complications 3- END. GUE standards are 100 ft. I shoot for 70 ft...
