How much weight do you dive with?

To be perfectly clear, you shouldn't need to have any air at all in your BCD to stay neutrally balanced at safety stop depth with 500PSI (35BAR). If you need air in your BCD at safety stop depth (15-20 feet, 5 meters), you are overweighted, assuming you are diving wet. It's true dry, but you...

Coral to stay away from? Fire Coral etc..

Personally, I like to run my hands all over every type of coral, invertebrates and vertebrates so I know for sure which ones hurt the most when they bite/sting/whatever. You can't trust books, personal experience is best. So what if I destroy the reef in the process of my experiments...

    Adding weight to a tank

Do find out, if you don't know, what the lift capacity of your BCD is... that's important when you are using integrated weights and adding weight to your tanks (or using steel tanks, most of which remain several pounds negative at the end of the dive. Your BCD needs to have enough lift to keep...

    Any disadvantage to High Pressure?

Feels almost like having a bomb strapped to your back, doesn't it? :) I once got a rental AL80 and had 3700 in it... that got my attention!

    Any disadvantage to High Pressure?

That depends on who is doing it... it may also be indicative of somebody who knows EXACTLY what he or she is doing. Lots of wet fill stations in cave country, where they do some pretty hardcore fills.

What do you use to keep the inflator hose streamlined

My wife and I have both switched to hog rigs, and I am wondering what's the best way to keep the inflator hose in a streamlined position when not in use. I REALLY hate anything dangling even a little, but obviously that hose has to be easy to put over my head at a moment's notice....

Accidents and Incidents:What mistakes have you made?

I learned a lesson last year being helpful. I was diving with a guy that was on his first and second dives after OW, and he clearly didn't have buoyancy control down. We were at about 30 feet when he put some air in his BC... he put in too much, and started to go up, got confused about which...

    Henderson Hyperstretch 3MM

One thing about the hyperstretch suits, they snag something fierce if they are ever TOUCHED by velcro. Additionally, 3mm is generally so flexible you don't really need super stretchy materials. I use a 3mm Henderson Thermoprene that was like 69 bucks on sale at ScubaToys a while back.

    Could/should I dive with cold/allergy?

You've already paid for the trip, go on the trip. See what you are like when you are there... sometimes a change of scenery and sea air will knock out any nasal problems. Additionally, I would recommend you get saline nasal flush and start on that right away... Don't dive if you are sick, or...

What to do when an instructor is out of line?

I know this is taking what you are saying out of context, so I will say that up front... what I am stating below isn't the same thing that you were talking about. Having said that, I do want to make the following point about the fallacy that a rudimentary "class" such as PADI's AOW offers any...

    What equipment have you lost?

I had a brand new pair of hard sole booties (with exactly two dives on them, that day) walk away from me at Vortex Springs in Florida. I left them sitting on a table with some other gear, and didn't notice they were missing until I unpacked for my next dive. The staff at Vortex found a pair...

    Oil and the Oriskany

Dove it with H20 in mid may, at that time the oil wasn't within 80 miles of Pensacola. Got our air fills at MBT and they had a guy who was doing nothing all day but answering the phone telling people where the oil was. Cancellations galore. We had the wreck to ourselves, the only boat out...
