call the dive for missing comp?

Personally, I wouldn't have made the second dive, but then again I can get 1 hour + off an AL80 at 65 feet so I could have, potentially, pushed the NDL on that second dive (although with the SI of 90 it would have been hard to do). 40 minute dives are all well and good if you know you are doing...

    Pensacola's clean, & good diving..

MTB Divers say that the tarballs that have hit the beach there are all very weathered, and that they are gone now.

    Bummer!

    Pensacola's clean, & good diving..

Good to know, we are in Pensacola & cave country next week. Is there any good shore diving around there?

    How do you celebrate 100?

I didn't do anything special at all on mine, I did mention it to the divemaster on the boat who made an announcement on the way back to shore (I about died of embarrassment), but that was it. At least we were on a good dive for my 100th, my wife's happened in the local quarry on an equipment...

Divemaster & Instructor Qualifications: Your Opinion

I am engineering a hijack of my own thread :) I am not disagreeing with what you are saying, I just want to add a bit of clarification since this is in the "basic scuba" section and I want to make it clear to people who do not know that "cave diving", while obviously more risky than open...

From jacket BC to back plate and wing?

Not to steal the topic, but we have made Seattle one of the next couple of stops on our agenda (next year... we have to get in more training dives in our drysuits first, so you all don't break out the clown noses to stick on our faces).

Divemaster & Instructor Qualifications: Your Opinion

I not sure I agree with a suggestion that someone with 150 dives is definitely not ready to be a DM candidate. But that's not at all what I said. I said that I find it hard to believe that somebody is ready... not that they are definitely not ready. Big difference between what you think I...

Divemaster & Instructor Qualifications: Your Opinion

Perhaps I am in an unusual position as there wasn't an LDS within 100 miles of me (there actually is one now). There are two in a city a little over 100 miles of me, Columbia MO, plus there are many in St. Louis and Des Moines, which are about 150 miles from me. I simply started stopping into...

Divemaster & Instructor Qualifications: Your Opinion

IMHO it's not a luxury. If I can't talk to the instructor, find out about his/her experience and what he knows, then I am not taking a class from him or her, ESPECIALLY the most important class, intro. No way. I will find an instructor who will meet my criteria or I flat won't do it...

Leave or stay with buddy Scenario

Another agreement with this one. Besides, it's not like there is any mystery as to which way the current is running at the surface... most operators at wrecks have a darned good idea where to look for any diver that gets blown out. The chances of you being forever lost at sea are a lot...

Divemaster & Instructor Qualifications: Your Opinion

I was talking to an open water scuba instructor a couple of weeks ago, and I was surprised to find that he had only a few more dives than I have (somewhere in the 160 dive area for him). Yeah, I know the lower limit starts at 100 but I just found it hard to believe that somebody would be...

    Wing Smells HORRIBLE

PADI has developed a new "Wing Smell Removal" training program and C-Card. I think it only costs $120 and is a four hour course, and the card counts for one of the five you need to get your Master Scuba Diver card.

Complacency can hit ANYBODY; or why you should NEVER hurry when diving

I thanked yours so you don't feel left out of the love fest. It has 31 thanks because the OP has a Borg Cupcake as an avatar. I mean... it's a Borg Cupcake... how can you not thank a Borg Cupcake?

Complacency can hit ANYBODY; or why you should NEVER hurry when diving

Not really directly to a point, but we have a system around our house that helps figuring out which tanks are full and which are empty. we live 100 miles from the nearest fill station, we do night dives at sites after the fill stations there are shut down or at sites that don't have fills to...

    What is in your BCD

It depends on the dive. If I am diving dry, I don't use a pocket on my BP/W at all, I use my drysuit pockets, which are more streamlined. OK, here's how I configure. Open Water Ocean, Wet: backup bottom timer, fold up snorkel (as needed). I wrist mount all my instruments, my backup...

Call Dan and ask them both about the problem and the insurance. Fluid in the ears isn't necessarily painful, sounds to me like you have an issue though.

CaveAdventures has a "real store" as well, I've been there for tank fills.
