    Problem with BC purchase

With all due respect, the only online store I have ever had consistently bad problems with was scuba.com. I still have a box full of spring straps I can't use sitting here because I got tired of the expense of shipping them (and NONE of it was my fault, they didn't send the size I ordered, they...

    In or Out

Also, if you pee in your wetsuit, put the wetsuit outside your boots for sure. Or so I am told, I don't actually pee in my wetsuit.

What brands do you recommend/not recommend?

Here's what I use: Deep Sea Supply wings & backplates, hog harnesses, ScubaPro regs, DUI drysuit, henderson wetsuits, Hollis F1 fins. (The tank is a Steel 120... the boot was to hold it up for the picture...

    General Vortex Incident Discussion

Sheck died in a sinkhole. Zacatón - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Really didn't matter if there was air above him or not, since his decompression obligations blocked him from ascending to the surface.

    General Vortex Incident Discussion

Sheck should have backed off, but he was always chasing round numbers... the previous dive almost killed him, he should have just backed off and let it go. He didn't and it killed him. That doesn't make him a stroke, but that does rather color my view of his advice... give advice, but don't...

    Continuous Web harness or other

If you had to rescue me, I couldn't care less that you cut a $10 piece of harness. Not one little bit.

New divers hard finding dive buddies?

My wife and I dive with newbies all the time at local quarries, no worries. Generally, we go out as a "three buddy" team. We are perfectly willing to dive with newbies, or people who haven't dove in a while, as long as they have a good attitude towards diving, and don't look like they are about...

    Continuous Web harness or other

I actually have thought about keeping a spare continous strap in my dive gear in case we have to cut a rig off... but then I thought "If we get to the point where we have to cut a rig off then we are probably done with diving for the day anyway"...

    Continuous Web harness or other

My wife and I use simple continuous strap harnesses on our backmount bp/w rigs.

Mandatory Dive Time per Dive ?

I often dive in the extreme shallows... 3-5 feet of water... when I am taking pictures. Here are some shots that were all taken in 6 feet of water or less. 4 feet down 3 feet down 4 feet down 5 feet down, night If I spend an hour in the top 10 feet of the water taking pictures, should...

Mandatory Dive Time per Dive ?

I can see that, but since I often dive a steel 120LP which the shop fills to 3000psi, and many of my dive sites are 25-30 feet, one tank can last... ummm... hours. That's why I don't go for the "one tank means one dive" thing... I can dive all day on one tank.

    Which BP/W system to buy?

Thanks Tobin... It was Tobin that actually taught me that a smaller wing would get me by, my wife and I both dive DSS wings and plates, and are very pleased with them BTW.

    Which BP/W system to buy?

Even though I had been diving bp/w for quite a while, I did rescue in my poodle jacket that I bought when I was getting certified. I am keeping it for doing my DM class as well, since there is the equipment exchange stuff in that, and working with people that just are not familiar with a bp/w...

    Which BP/W system to buy?

Add me to your list. I started with a Transpac and have moved on to a hog rig within a relatively short period. Anybody want a used 2XL Tanspac & Venture wing? As far as lift goes, when diving wet I use a SS backplate & 120 LP tank that is fairly negative, plus a primary canister light's...

    Fatality off Gloucester Ma

Heart attack perhaps? Since he was able to get to the surface, was alive when he got on the boat and had only been down 15 feet (3 meters), did he perhaps overexert himself and have a coronary incident? Just a guess. About the only diving thing I can think of would be lung over expansion...
