Unless you get into tech diving, equipment cost is a very small part of the whole deal over 10 years....
Having said that, I am putting together two cave diving rigs, including sidemount systems, tanks, lights, drysuits, OUCH!
For Sale: A XXL (T) Transpac wing with about 75 dives on it (fresh and ocean), with 32 pound integrated weight system and a Venture EXP wing.
The reason the (T) is in quotes is because I ordered a tall version, and they say they shipped me the tall version, but it is not marked "T" anywhere on...
Assuming you have a fill station that runs high enough pressure to actually get them full. Most of the pressures on fill stations in my neck of the woods max out at about 3200 because they don't want to put "wear and tear" on the compressors... and that won't fill a HP tank.
Just grist for...
There's also another angle to consider.
I work in an office with 12 other people. I am the only certified diver.
However, 6 of the 12 people in this office have been diving, and two have experienced accidents on a dive.
The other five have all done "discover scuba" resort experiences. One of...
My reply to a PM was WAY too long so I am just going to post it here... the reason being the tips I was giving are general, and I though you all might like to see them as well.
The OP asked me for general Sealife advice as somebody who has dove the system, and about Ginnie Springs in...
Well, yes and no :)
You can use any strobe that uses a "slave" firing system, via fiber optic cabling or through sensing the flash in the water.
The Intova's are slaves, so they will work just fine... in fact you can use the fiber opitcs kit that Sealife uses to make it all nice and neat...
It is a known issue, however I had two strobes repaired (they just replaced both of them).
Apparently, if your strobes come to a "full stop" they are less likely to have this problem, but if they just kind of "slide" they are more susceptible to it. Later models come to a definite stopping point.
Whoa, Night Of The Living Thread... this came in my "weekly update post email" thing I get every Sunday, and I was thinking to myself "I don't recall posting on somebody's master scuba diver thread recently..." I checked back and I found it was mine from a year and a half ago.
How fun.
OK...
Going cheap at the moment:
Sealife DC1000 MAXX Two Strobe Underwater Camera - eBay (item 200544413484 end time Nov-26-10 15:08:37 PST)
I am selling it to help pay for a housing for a DSLR, moving on up in the world of underwater photos.
Here's looking down into the hole from the top (where there was enough light to video), a short video clip... the entrance is under the ledge where you can see debris coming out of... 25million gallons a day is a pretty ripping flow coming through something that small, for somebody who is a NOOB...
This isn't directed at all to the OP (since he has been there and already knows what it looks like) I just wanted to give any of you who are reading this who are not familiar with Morrison an idea of why I was so concerned to read this.
Here is a cross section of what that lower cavern looks...
Don't be low!
You didn't know. Yeah, it's a cool place to dive... in fact, if you really liked it, I encourage you to go back there, as well as the other caverns in the area like Vortex and Jackson Blue to name a couple...
I was just saying that they take specific training to dive them safely...
It's good that you did... it really is important to know that what your instructor did was just wrong...
Please do me a personal favor and watch the following 10 minute video. Thanks!
"A Deceptively Easy Way To Die"
(Here's me at the Reaper at Morrison you passed)...
You were diving in the bottom cavern in Morrison on your AOW deep dive checkout dive?
That's absolutely wrong.
That is a cavern dive, once you go down into that second chamber. Yes, there are a couple of places in there where you can see directly to the surface, but in nearly all of that lower...
