Permanent solution to fogging on the Scuba Masks involving Nanotechnology

Ah, a spendthrift, I see. The dollar store stuff works just as well... ;-)

Question Should OC and CC divers respect the same limits for breathing gas densities at depth?

Perhaps relevant. (It was good but I don't plan to watch it again to see whether he differentiated between OC and RB.)

Question Should OC and CC divers respect the same limits for breathing gas densities at depth?

@Dr Simon Mitchell ... I thought you and I corresponded about this some time ago, but (a) I can't find the note and (b) the answer might have changed since then.

What to look for in used regulators?

Nearly anything breathes well shallow. High-performance regs breathe well deep. Even on Trimix, the density is a factor. The good news is if you go inexpensive now, you'll already own your first deco reg when the time comes to upgrade.

    My back surgery...

As a close-up witness to the post-op consequences of extensive back surgery, I can tell you this: If you are able to think and type, you are doing very, very well. You're even coherent! I'll be blunt. The next few days are gonna suck. You might not even remember them later, which is a good...

Question Dedicated reg set for doubles?

I have a dedicated set for doubles and a dedicated recreational reg. However, some of my deco/stage regs are the same as my back gas regs (three, I think, at last count). If I have a problem at a dive site I can plug and play to fix the problem because they are set up identically and then...

Question Dive shop won’t hydro test tanks due to previous hydro test stamp placement?

Good grief. Bring it to a qualified hydro test facilty. Accept their decision. Move on. As diving costs go a new tank isn't even a rounding error.

    So, where have I been?

Pete, best of luck on Thursday. Hoping for a successful procedure followed by a short recovery and a great outcome!

    Life after quitting smoking

It's been 25 or so years now. The first three years were the hardest (no kidding). But then second-hand smoke started to bother me.

    Best Mask Defog ?

When I was, um, younger, spit worked for me. It doesn't, any more. Dollar store baby shampoo (one drop per lens, add water, rinse) works perfectly now that my saliva does not.

    Drysuit Neck Seal Too Tight

That's exactly what I was talking about in post #37 in my response to #32. I'm happy you got through it. I'd always want to be comfortable, but never would I have imagined it was actually dangerous to have the neck seal too tight before I took the class (well, read the book, actually, but "how...

    Let's compare our conservatism setting

I know this will sound a bit harsh, but: Let's not. The plural of "anecdote" is not "data." The sample size here is too small to be meaningful. Read things like studies from reputable sources...Deco for Divers...and anything at all from Simon Mitchell.

Filling tanks with Cheap-O Air Compressors on eBay?

Missing from the responses (at least apparently so in my quick scan) is that breathing air filtration is not magic. There are hazardous compounds that can be created in a compressor that will pass right through the filtration system without being diluted in the slightest, and they can kill you...

    Drysuit Neck Seal Too Tight

Actually, that's not the case. Your instructor should teach you about the carotid sinus reflex and how it applies to neck seal tension. Sudden blackouts can occur with no warning at all. It that's not covered, I suggest a different agency or instructor or both. I am happy to see you are...

Din Retainer / Hand Wheel Loosening?

I use a *small* drop of Loc-Tite on mine. Just a smidgen. Did I say "small"? They don't loosen any more. No, no, no, not the red stuff. I like getting things apart a year later to service things...

Question When to Repair Drysuit Seam

Another honorable mention for DRIS. I had DUI put in a zipper in one suit and DRIS for another. The workmanship was indistinguishable between the two, but (without the previous key person discount) DRIS was a lot less expensive.

How do I overcome seasickness on boat dives without medication?

Yeah, not for me. I mean, I'd have to tell the truth, right?

How do I overcome seasickness on boat dives without medication?

Watching the horizon is important, as many have said. Avoid oily foods the night before and for breakfast, too.

    Suggestion Minimum to use classified

It seems like 10 is working pretty well. Otherwise I'd have said 20 real posts would be better. (None of this "I need two more posts." I need one more post and this is it!" ... stuff.)
