Wow, look at all the armchair MDs!
I'm sorry to be blunt, but seeking medical advice from a forum -- however, well-intentioned the advice or seemingly minor the affliction -- is foolishness.
Please go visit an actual medical professional.
Perhaps they realized they were not going to get the sympathy they believed they were entitled to. Only 1 message in their history; 'I joined SB so I could complain AND get sympathy' is generally not a winning strategy.
It's not uncommon, particularly if you use your dump valves to correct buoyancy (which a lot of new divers do). Nothing particularly bad or wrong with it; it's part of the learning process.
As said above, eventually you will reach the point where you correct your buoyancy primarily with breath...
I do not suggest safety take a backseat -- quite the opposite. My comment is based on the economics of the business; are divers willing to pay more for safety (or the illusion of it)?
The author's premise appears to be that LoB operations need to be better regulated, and all I can say is be very careful what you wish for.
"Vessel operators and authorities in regions with less stringent regulations should consider adopting practices that align with SOLAS principles to enhance...
Sulawesi Strait (Manado, Bunaken, Bangka, Lembeh) seem tailor made to your requirements. Murex offers a package that does all 3 resorts that my dive group really enjoyed. There were only 2 dives out of the ~35 we did that had current: they were both transit dives between resorts, the current was...
Agreed. I run an AI and the small-dial SPG is the one 'redundant' piece of gear I have on my rig; I put it on a short miflex hose and clip it below my inflator hose. I can quickly gaze down at my chest and confirm what my AI is claiming.
I've never dived with you, so only you can judge how...
In my experience, it's pretty common for the boat driver to be maneuvering with engines when picking up or dropping divers, particularly in a mothership/tender style LOB, or if they're maneuvering around other boats, reefs, obstructions, etc..
I just assume that the engine is always running...
In the words of George Takei, Oh myyyyyy.....
All jokes aside, the rechargeable battery is actually a great idea. My only qualm is needing to bring yet another charger on my trips.
Agreed; I did 30+ dives in Sulawesi, and then 15 dives in Belize from October to December last year on one AA battery (all dives 50m-70m) on my Perdix AI. Something is definitely wrong with computer if they are replacing after 8 dives.
I also think _sgm_ may have been on very good medication...
I had the same problem as you; blurry dives, being unable to spot anything. I had very good luck with Prescription Dive Masks (Prescription Dive Masks | Our Products | Prescription Dive Masks). You send them your mask, they cut the lenses and mount them to your mask. I had my Venom done about 5y...
I want to get better at photography. Less in the post-processing of images, but recognizing the conditions that make for excellent photos.
I don't want to be greedy, but I also want to add another dive trip to our schedule; already booked 10 days in Roatan and 10 days in Socorro. Maybe a long...
Hey all!
My wife (Octopussneakers) and I are attempting to ‘free’ her Peregrine computer and SPG from the Shearwater console so she can go to a wrist mount.
Talking to my dive shop owner, I must put the assembly in hot water for a period of time to make the console malleable to remove both, but...
Same with my Perdix AI. I think you are spot on about the form factor. I recognize that folks want the convenience of a smaller computer and the eco-friendliness of a charger. But when I'm on a trip I want the ability to dive without electronic frustration. AA batteries FTW! :)
I have similar low back pain, particularly following multi-dive days. I also noticed similar pain when touring cities/museums (lots of slow walking/short stride). It all stemmed from very tight IT bands and quads; all those muscles join up in my low back.
My solution was IT band and quad...
