    Newbie equipment list.

The draw back to HP tanks is that you may not be able to get a full HP fill in some places. If the fill person is willing to fill a HP tank to rated pressure let it cool to room temperature and top it off and their bank has 3500psi in itYou should be able to get a full fill on a LP tank at any...

    Zeagle Scout weight pockets

Zeagle's answer would probably be NO. Many people including myself have done it, You just loose the security of velcro closure loop on the weight pouches to the webbing on the back. Note I have an older Ranger so the pockets may have been redesigned.

Does an air transmitter fit on an Apeks DST?

My mistake. the transmitter will thread right into the end of the HP hose with a spool in-between the hose and the transmitter. A Mini SPG requires the adapter.

    Diving for pain relief?

Diving is painless and relaxing tor me but humping tanks and gear to the entry point or boat and back after words does not do wonders for my old back. It tends to complain mightily the next morning for a while. I will keep diving as long as my body allows it because I love it. I am already...

    yoke to din converter

The older 3500 psi/300 bar HP tanks had 300bar DIN valves on them. The newer HP tanks, 3442 psi/232 bar, tanks come with PRO Valves that can be used with either DIN or most modern Yoke 1st stages. The older 300 bar tanks also have a different tank neck thread than the 232 bar valves and tanks.

Does an air transmitter fit on an Apeks DST?

It might. My Suunto transmitter would. I and many other divers put their transmitters on a short, 6" hose, with the adapter on the end to fit the transmitter. This accomplishes 2 things. 1. it moves the transmitter away from the 1st stage and will allow the turret to rotate without obstruction...

    Filling tanks to different pressures… 2400, 3000, 3300, 3500?

Many shops will over fill tanks by 200 to 300psi and let them cool to working pressure. Working pressure is not the maximum pressure a tank can be filled to it is the pressure the in the tank at room temperature, 70 - 80 degrees. Taking the time to let tanks cool and top them off to working...

What to do while diving a lake with bad visibility?

We have been on dives where dive buddies will be tethered together on a rope so we wouldn't get separated. We spent a hour on one dive squashing snail shells and feeding the snails to the sunfish. We were in about 3' to 4' of water.

Burst disc failure leads to over $2000 in property damage

I had a burst disc go on an AL 30 when it was standing in the garage bungied to a shelf with my other tanks and never moved as far as i could tell. I believe that there are two types of Burst Disks. 3 piece type, washer burst disk and retaining bolt and the 1 piece type which has all the pieces...

What to do while diving a lake with bad visibility?

Maybe I am in the minority but I enjoy just being under water. I find it relaxing just to cruise around with no real expectation of seeing any thing special, that's a bonus or accomplishing a specific task. If the dive has no planed objective, go to the 130' hole, find the whatever attraction, I...

    Weighting with pony

Are you using your drysuit or your BC for bouyancy? Personally I like using my BC for buoyancy and my suit with just enough air to keep off a lot of squeeze. I find that i feel more stable and am using less weight because I do not have a big bubble moving around in the suit.

Interesting regulator article in dan's alert diver

Some of the older AquaLung plastic 2nd stages, especially the yellow ones, were prone to cracking where the hose attaches.

    Combining octo/inflator combo w/ bp/w

I tried a "safe second" when I started putting my kit together and dove it for about a year. During that year I used it to get used to using it and discovered after a few uses that it was not an optimal piece of kit. When in use it restricted my head movement to the right because of the...

If your hose is the standard 1" hose they should fit. Is you hose one of the odd sizes, some a 3/4" and I believe there is one other size? Most of the inflator your find will fit the standard 1" hose.

    Drysuit hose leaking

Have you tried contacting Apeks and asking what size O-rings they are? that are good about furnishing that kind of information. have you thought about replacing the Seatec coupling with a standard inflator coupling and getting a standard inflator hose with the drysuit coupling flange?

    Dive Master program but where?

I you are planning on working locally as a DM train locally. The duties of DM's is often related to where they are working. In warm water their main duty often is to lead dives for the shop/operator with some helping/teaching classes. in other places it maybe reversed where most of the shops...
