I am very leg heavy and dense so to float I have to lay back arch my back to keep my legs up but still have issues with them sinking. Floaty people have hard time understanding people who do not float.
For the swim test there is no stroke requirement, you can use what ever stroke works for you...
I think the real question is how bad is the tear, what else needs to be repaired (arthritis repair, tendon repair, cartilage clean up) and what you can do for range of motion with out finding the hot knife going into your shoulder.
If you take the dive trip is best decided between you and your...
My personal preference is neoprene socks and rock boots. The neoprene adds some thermal protection, is fairly easy to patch and can be sized a little big tor room for more thermals. Rock boots can be laced up tight to keep air from collecting in the boots and help eliminate the fin straps from...
As long as it is rises well an occasional dip in the pool will not really hurt your gear especially the fabric. The shop I work for replaces their BC’s and regs every year. The regs do not seem to have any issues with the pool use but the BC’s do have some issues with pool chlorine causing some...
I really like mine with my bpw and my heavy wetsuit and dry suit. I find it very comfortable and secure. The weight pouches are very secure and not be prone to accidental release. Changing weights is easy, moving weight up and down and front to back to adjust trim is easy. My biggest problem is...
The Stiletto’s wing is modular and can be ordered/changed to other sizes like the Ranger, Express Tech and the rest of the modular Zeagle BC’s. I move my 24#, 36# and 44# between my Express Tech, Ranger and BPW as the needs change.
One of the big advantages of the Stiletto is the double tank bands which I find make the tank more stable and almost eliminates any chance of the tank slipping down in the bands.
I believe some of the earlier Aqualung 2nd stages used a smaller exhaust diaphragm. I ran into that when I had to replace one on the early metal seconds like the one in the picture. The exhaust tees that screwed on have a smaller space for the diaphragm than the newer pressure fit ones.
Buy gear that will work for the diving you are doing and plan on doing. There have not been any major improvements in much of the dive gear in years. There have been incremental increases in performance but basic designs have not changed in years. Unless you have lots of disposable income don’t...
As I understand it in the Conshelf line the Conshelf XII, XIV and the 14 have the metal second stage. The Conshelfs produced between the XIV and the 14 had plastic second stages. All the second stages use the same service kit and are identical mechanicly. The plastic second stages and the 14...
From what I can tell they are the Aqualung Conshelf XIV. There is no difference in the internal workings of any of the Conshelf’s XIV through 14. There were differences in the number of ports and their sizes and later models have a replaceable high pressure cone.
There is always somebody selling something that will make you a great diver if you buy their product.
The best thing to get for a beginning diver is time in the water and mentoring from a good diver.
The Crown in the Titan, original, is used in the Legend, Cousteau/SEA, Conshelf SE3, 22,21,20 and the XIV according to the 2006 parts catalog. It should be available for a very long time.
It has the tuning port and the yellow exhaust valve. A couple of the 14 2nd I just bought have the translucent diaphragms which is probably the military diaphragm. I was under the impression that the Conshelfs labeled XIV 2nd stages did not have the tuning port and the 14 does.
I recently acquired a Conshelf 14 1st and second stage with the serial number CPNR0723 on the 1st stage and the 2nd stage sn is S0573864 and has a black diaphragm.
Is this a military reg or something as the 1st stage serial number seems out of the ordinary. It has 4 3/8" lp ports and 1 HP port...
