Vyper Air & data transfer cable: expected behaviour

Were the connections dry and or clear of salt residue? Damp connections or salt residue could be interfering with the connection between the cable and the dc.

    Which rock boots?

I have had a dive shop owner suggest Chuck Taylor tennis shoes instead of rock boots. They may be cheaper and easier to find ones that fit.

Zeagle Flathead 7 Balance diaphragm end cap

A pin spanner that will work on multiple regs is this one and probably cheaper than getting a reg specific spanner. Spanner Wrench Round Surface - Dive Right in Scuba As far as adjustment gauges an ip gauge and bucket of water will work for setting the ip and cracking pressure.

Zeagle Flathead 7 Balance diaphragm end cap

Is it the Zeagel Zeagle or the Apeks Zeagle? Zeagles were rebadged Apeks until 2000. When Zeagle designed their regs they used a lot of the Apeks basic designs. One of the changes they made was that the retaining ring for the environmental just screws by hand, no pin spanner needed. Zeagle...

    Deep Diving on Nitrox question

You did not die when you took that first breath after you hit 112 feet on 32% Nitrox? Ox Tox is not just depth dependent. It is time, exertion and possibly temperature dependent. Short exposure at 1.6 is not a "your going to die" if there are not major extenuating circumstances.

Do they make a zip seal > ring adapter?

DUI does not recommend using ring systems with the silicon ZIP wrist seals. I had a pair of the silicones for back ups and returned them for latex when I read that DUI does not recommend them for ring systems, I use the Viking Classic Rings. I am guessing that the silicon is soft enough and...

Cruise: 2 Tank Dive excursions in Puerto Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas

If I can I like to book on my own but the cruise ship schedule is what is the deciding factor in some cases, ship gets in to late, leaves to early or is not in port long enough to make it practical to book on your own. If I am booking on my own I like to leave a lot of time between estimated...

Cruise: 2 Tank Dive excursions in Puerto Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas

I have used the cruise line operator multiple times and those two sound worse than normal for cruise line dive operators. Most cruise line dive ops are not noted for providing the best diving experience. They have a financial incentive to get as many people in and out of the water as quickly as...

Where to dive the Great Lakes

The Staights of Mackinaw have multiple good wrecks in the recreational depths and others that are in tech ranges. I was there in June for 3 days of diving and several of the wrecks we dove could easily been tech dives, three of our party were doing tech dives on the wrecks, decause of time on...

    Choices....

I have been looking at Sidemount also and found that what type diving you are going to do doing, cave, wreck, warm water, cold water, recreational, tech, steel or AL cylinders, will determine what is the best type of sidemount rig to get. The Nomad XT is good for cold water diving with multiple...

    Envoy 1st stage replacement

The Envoy is still made by Zeagle in several forms. The design has not really changed since it was introdused. They are are good as most regs on the market. They do show up on eBay occasionally at resonable prices.

    Differences in tank valves

Thermo valves have had some detractors because they are a "quick" opening valve. Meaning that they are a little hard to open with slow opening. This can be an issue if you are using high concentrations of Oxygen.

Hip Pocket for BP/W to store long hose behind

If you are not diving overhead environments where a 7' hose is needed a 5' hose is all that is needed and eliminates the issue of where to place the extra 2' of hose. If you are teaching or DMing a 5' or 7' hose is not practicle if your shop wants you to wear a snorkel.

MacDive review (v 2.6.5, Mac OS X 10.11.6 El Capitan, Aeris Atmos 2)

MacDive is a great program and there is a MacDive for the iOS platform that allows easy syncing between the two platforms. There may be a MacDive for Android. Most of the manufactures logging software suck big time. Suuntos software is a real POS.

Put new latex seals on wrist Zip Seals.

Thanks. That is what I thought. I tried getting a neck seal apart and ended up melting the ring system, With 2 sealing rings on the neck ring there is a good chance of getting them misaligned enough not to work. I will bite the bullet on those and pay the price.

Using a dive skin under 7mm full suit

I also use a lycra skin under my suits, fresh or salt water dives. They do help getting the suit on and off and ad a little protection if you are diving a shorty. I do not wear it in the pool as I am afraid the Chlorine would do it in fairly quickly.
