    Reported DCS on plane

But surely before looking at reasons that may be behind outliers, one would have to exclude something that is definitely a substantial part of the probability box: DCS being diagnosed is not equal to DCS being present in this patient...

Polish diver dies in world record attempt to 333m

I do not doubt that it is allowed by the rules of this forum. I just do not think it is either appropriate at this stage, or useful. While it is true that many things that will be survivable at 30m are very lethal at 300m, as so often, the inverse conclusion is not true: not all things that are...

Polish diver dies in world record attempt to 333m

doctormike, I think it is trivial to see that there can be accidents happening during a record attempt that are not causally connected to the dive being a record attempt, or even very deep at all.

Polish diver dies in world record attempt to 333m

doctormike, I just think that if you want to criticise record attempts in general, it would be better to use a thread dedicated to that, and not one reporting a specific accident _where the cause is completely unknown at present_. The worst thing to do in accident analysis is always presuming...

Polish diver dies in world record attempt to 333m

doctormike, no one even knows what happened(!) Do you really think any criticism at this stage is useful?

Polish diver dies in world record attempt to 333m

"For the lst several hours we have learned that the good name of the late Sebastian is unreasonably attacked by people who do not have adequate diving knowledge and the basics of good manners and do not respect his previous achievements, which in recent years has brought much to Polish diving...

Polish diver dies in world record attempt to 333m

Well already 120m for the U-boat wreck is already quite deep.

Polish diver dies in world record attempt to 333m

Germie, many thanks for this detailed explanation! I had already tried to figure out the reason why CCR seems to become problematic at "shallower" depths than OC, and arrived at the CO2 problem. Very interesting to see it confirmed by someone who actually does challenging CCR dives!

    Reported DCS on plane

I second the folks here that say that anxiety from thinking about DCS has to be considered as an alternative explanation.

Care of latex seals - KY jelly ?

Yes, I am just wondering why they would not sell in the US when proudly printing "Made in USA" and the Stars and Stripes onto the bottles. But, who knows, marketing...

Care of latex seals - KY jelly ?

It is McNetts, and bought online from a German dive shop. I see no immediate way how to find out when it was produced, the bottle is not dated. Basically all German dive shops still sell it, so I somewhat doubt that all this is old inventory.

Care of latex seals - KY jelly ?

Jack, that is interesting, as I bought my bottle in December, and it reads "Made in USA"...

Care of latex seals - KY jelly ?

    I use "Seal Saver".

What do I do next after SSI Stress & Rescue Certification

Is the same as Germie said also in Germany: one has to do an EFR training to obtain a driver's license, and also for some other things like training and education of minors. Valid for 2 years, and can easily be done and refreshed in a single day.

    I would, yes.

Does the body get better at removing nitrogen?

I think if at all there will be time variable aspects, but probably not a general trend at "getting better".

    Safety stop when losing buddy

Isn't aseptic bone necrosis something basically only observed in sat diving? Given the exceedingly long desaturation half times of everything in the vicinity of the long bones, it would be very hard to understand how these will even notice a 3 minute stop... To my understanding, the safety stop...

    Safety stop when losing buddy

But folks as said, this is completely besides the point here. Missing a safety stop on a normal dive carries no measurable additional risk.

    Safety stop when losing buddy

Missing a safety stop is NOT "risking your life". Not at all. It is not even proven that it puts you at any additional risk, however small.
