    Helium prices ...

Personal opinion (not a CCR diver): sustainable use of helium means CCR. Not advocating OC trimix for ever shallower depths.

Maximum Operating Depth (M.O.D.) S.C.U.B.A. Diving On Air.

Well, I am not an active CCR diver. I have some try dives, also a bit deeper than 15m. WOB was quite trivial. Deeper depths, this may be different, I can not and will not comment. I do however have to say I am quite critical about advocating trimix for ever shallower depths. CCR to be honest I...

    Custom lead mold

Given that normally divers are really cautious regarding health issues, yes, I suggest to use the same caution when working with lead. It is not instantly a huge hazard, true. But especially of you do it often, there are more healthy things in life than casting lead weights in an improvised fashion.

    Drysuit Bouyancy Issues

"Shrink wrapped" is also cold. Although I have to say personally I prefer a bit of tactile feedback by the suit.

Almost evolutionary, the fin "development" ;)

Future Directions: Where Is Diving Going?

In any case much is unknown. Better to not always think the most benign scenarios will be those that become reality.

Sore throat from dry compressed air

Depending on where you are diving (salt water / heavily chlorinated pool) this may not be of help, but in fresh water dives I sometimes simply take a sip of the water to wet my mouth.

    Deep stop question

There is no definition that is universal. One always needs to see the context. To me, "deep" in the context of this discussion means that the total deco time stayed fixed, and was (re)distributed from shallow to deeper.

Is there a "hardest cert/most stringent certifier?"

Well, compared to soccer, scuba diving is tiny. The "niche" thing however was with regards to postgraduate science. I do not even think it is relevant if niche or not. I simply think "where is it hardest" is a useless question to ask if you are looking to learn interesting things. But opinions...

Is there a "hardest cert/most stringent certifier?"

This. Actually this is precisely the thing that a scientist is getting asked. Whom have we worked with, and on what topics. Regarding the original question: we are in the clear on everyone now offering their favourite (tech)-agency because the require much. I do have a completely different...

Quiz - Physiology - DCS Factors

I can say to the contrary, that alcohol use before diving was not found to be a factor in post-dive bubbles in a recent DAN study. The same is true for fatigue and accidents. Only obesity may indeed stand on empirical grounds: Dive Risk Factors, Gas Bubble Formation, and Decompression Illness...
