Bad breathing gas on liveaboard trip

Not surprised at no response. This is just another of this same general storyline we have heard before. Problem followed by inadequate compensation or no response. Apparently they are not impacting the bottom line enough to affect change. That's likely because several people have good trips...

Any updates on requirement for negative Covid test to enter US?

I speculate that they focused on air travel because that method could quickly spread a new bad strain quickly vs the other methods of travel. Via air travel, people from all over the world can be here in a matter of hours, a lot of infected people could be pumped in quickly and those people...

Woman rescued after losing consciousness - Tubbataha Reef, Philippines

I tend to like to always check my own valve by turning all the way off and then all the way on, then checking the gauge while breathing it and then a couple shots of the purge valve to look for bouncing needle. Never so much of a hurry to not check that.

    American fatality in Exumas, Bahamas

Thanks for your efforts sladerer. Talking to anyone just to say what's in your head is good thing. Not directed at sladerer: Could be just the media report but I note they describe it as drowning. I don't know whether he took his reg out because of his mental state or he drowned because of...

Quick look at their Facebook page finds just glowing accounts of the wonder that is going with them and the places they go. :)

Any updates on requirement for negative Covid test to enter US?

I note that not all of these tests are accepted by the CDC for re-entry to the US. For example, the free tests I got via the government (iHealth COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Test) says it is not accepted for travel. They have an app that you can store your results in but it has a tiny disclaimer at...

Any updates on requirement for negative Covid test to enter US?

I dont understand comment about paying later for teleproctoring. I see the Binax Now Ag card kit costs money to buy but thought we just used the phone app to submit for results. Does that cost more money and do we have to do more than that?

    Socorro Liveaboard Grounding

Whoever was monitoring the boat must have fallen asleep. Does any boat anywhere set the boat on autopilot and go to sleep? That doesn't ever seem reasonable. Gee, have to abandon the life raft too?!

    Socorro Liveaboard Grounding

Either of the two possible scenarios wouldn't reflect well on the crew: if they ran aground while under way, that seems a little surprising though obviously possible. The pictures show it pretty close to the shore. It may have been on autopilot but autopilot only means it's driving itself while...

    Liveaboard fire

<<It would be better to have them in more than one location. >> That's really what you need but I don't know that anyone has that. If you are sleeping when the alarm happens, you want immediate access so you don't have to find it topside besides whether you may literally need it while below...

Question Looking for Bunk Mates(s) (not same bunk!)

I've had good luck with both getting my own room or sharing a room with someone who was no problem. Hopefully the roommate thought the same

Another scuba boat sinking - Galapagos Islands

When your franchise for Aggressor gets pulled I am not sure if that says something positive or negative about the boat

5:30am is a lovely time to check in for an angiogram!

I'm trying to understand the need for the stents and angioplasty. Is the idea that you were having pain in your calves and that was attributed to poor blood circulation? If so, can you describe the pain?

    Jardines De La Reina

Thanks for the info and interesting to hear that Cuban diving is good. I can only react to your description as I have no independent info about the boat. You don't specifically mention the company you booked with, though you eventually mention a boat name. The "book two trips with us and...

    Liveaboards with single cabins?

I'm surprised that the single supplement is not higher on some boats. It's a direct indicator of how likely they feel they will fill the boat so at this point, I'm not surprised it is lower but if we escape COVID hell I expect it to increase. I've went solo on several trips and never paid a...

    Fiji Airways carry-on warning

First I'll mention that Fiji is my favorite place to go because of the people. Always friendly and laidback. Wish I was going with ya. Fiji style is a thing. It may not get done on the schedule you wanted but it will get done. On my first trip to Fiji and Taveuni, we checked in for the...

    Fiji Airways carry-on warning

I'm saying I was weighed with backpack for the flight leaving Taveuni. Also saying that I have seen Fiji airways be strict on checked baggage weight to the point of requiring we move, while at the check in counter at a major airport, a few possessions from an overweight checked bag to an...
