Jack Madro. There's a name I haven't heard in years and years. I used to teach at his shop when he had one in Edmonton.

When my dad was in Boy Scouts, he dived some helium mix with navy divers in a pool and he got sick after

Don't know, don't care. Just trying to dispel the myth that all balloon grade helium has O2 in it. Even one of my gas supply guys stated that as fact until I showed him the analysis. He said he "heard it from some guy" and believed it. As are most myths that are perpetuated without a basis in...

    CCRStands still around?

It's 14cm high. My Kent Tooling one is 16 cm and I thought it was a bit too long.

Not necessarily. I've had balloon helium and analyzed it before use. Last one the O2 was less than 1%.

    CCRStands still around?

Here are pictures of my Kent stand and my Michel Charriere stand for my Tiburon. As I mentioned I didn't put the handle on my Kent stand. Don't need it. Kent stand without the handle is just over 7lbs. MC stand is 2.5 lbs. The weight is important to me as I fly quite often and weight limits are...

    First travel w/ rebreather. Tips?

I do this ( i throw in a few business cards into all my check in stuff) but I just found out security folks will call you at your gate if there are any questions. At least this is what happened in November when I flew to Greece from Calgary. Called me to the wicket and the security guy had a...

    First travel w/ rebreather. Tips?

Meg Tiburon (previously a KISS Classic) traveler. I pack two extra cells. Always. More batteries. When I go to somewhere like Bikini I usually change Orings ahead of time. I always bring an extra Shearwater controller. Because of my camera gear I have to pack my head in my check in assembled...

    Oxygen toxicity studies

I've talked to Sawatzky and Pollock. Both say the CNS clock is a crock.

    Oxygen on surface

No. I don't and I don't see it done by others, except one guy that I dive with and he only does it once in a while.

    Attitudes Toward DIR Divers

Then why not just ignore this thread instead of trolling? Do you get your jollies out of asking asinine questions about cigars and solo? Just let it go man.

    Tips for installing loop cover?

Soak it. Stretch with a car as noted previously. Put it in the oven at 375F. Bake for one hour. Remove. Let cool. Throw in the trash. Forget that you ever thought you needed one in the first place.

Any reported cases of Ox Tox between 1.4 and 1.6?

I suppose but unless I keep my setpoint at 1.6 for the entire deco, the advantage on my Shearwater is lost as soon as I go back to a setpoint of 1.3. Maybe it's a Shearwater thing algorithm thing, I don't know. Going back to old school I let my PO2 degrade from the 1.6 at 70' back to 1.3 as i...

Any reported cases of Ox Tox between 1.4 and 1.6?

Old habits die hard. I still sometimes spike my O2 to 1.6 at 70' because that's what I did to take advantage of the "oxygen window" 20 years ago.

Rebreather Service. Self or Factory only?

I'm not sure I've ever heard that either of my rebreathers requires annual service. Where did you hear that this was a requirement?
