How many fatal shark attacks to stop you diving

NSW don't cull sharks. It was dodgy circumstances either way you look at it. Multiple shark sightings for days, she was swimming in a group then fell behind and turned around to swim back by herself. Shark must have been peckish. Sad though, but completely preventable without the need for...

Best Diving Spots in Australia -- help needed

The wreck near brisbane is called 'ex-HMAS Brisbane'. A very nice wreck dive and fully penetrable. Sits at 28m upright in sand. Purposely scuttled about ten years ago to be a diving wreck. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What is the reason for keeping spool and SMB separate in pocket?

My guess would be that a spool is used for a variety of reasons, so it would be easier to have them separate as you may want to use your spool without a smb (wreck, jon line etc). I'm sure someone will give you a more credible answer soon. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Anybody provide their professional opinions?

I don't know where you buy your dive gear diversteve, but in most online dive shops and indeed the dive shops in my area, BP/W setups are ridiculously cheaper. Perhaps this is why diveshops prefer to sell jacket bc's. Afterall, they have to make money somehow and sales is the greatest profit for...

    gear storage: bins vs bags

I use a tub and am in the process of making wheels and a handle for it (for ease of pulling it around from the car to charter boats if it's a fair walk). For shore diving the bin goes straight in the back of the car with all my gear apart from camera. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Searching for a dive master internship.

Damon, If you read my post properly you will see I did not mention anything about improper training. I merely stated that dive shops here would rather employ DM's and Instructors who are locally trained. Yes, diving in Australia is bloody expensive, I'm not denying that. And there may be zero...

Preventing mask loss vs a spare

Wow I'm impressed. A few questions then. How do you read your gauges to fulfill deco obligations without a mask? Under what diving circumstances/environments do you feel carrying a spare mask is essential or outweighs the (very negligible) inconvenience of carrying it? Why is carrying a spare...

Preventing mask loss vs a spare

Wouldn't any deco dive be potentially life threatening if you've lost your mask? Applying your logic to this would mean that any/all deco dives is not a suitable choice for scuba. I dive in temperate open ocean environments and I still carry a spare mask just in case. If my computer fails, I...
