You can still breathe off a free flowing reg, so why waste even more air and swap to your occy?
FYI it takes 38 seconds for a AL80 to loose all its gas through a LP Hose and over half an hour with a HP hose.

Received my light today and keen to take it for a dive. Just need to rig it for Sidemount. I made a small 'mod' to the batteries to stop them banging around in the canister and to aid in pulling them out as I don't want to damage the electrical connector.

Cool thanks for the info. I'm very interested in buying one but at 5'7 I'm unsure of how it will fit and HOG gear here in Australia is as rare as gold.
Cheers
Mike
Hey Ken,
Do you rekon the hog SM rig may not fit so well for a shorter diver due to the fixed length?
Is there a way to make modifications to the rig to suit divers?
Does it have a in built weight/trim system?
Cheers
Mike
Chris,
I dived Julian on Saturday with Bluebaydivers and I'm diving the Brisbane this Saturday with Sunreef.
Julian was great wasn't it! Nice to see the mantas are still hanging around. We did hugo's trench and it was spectacular
.
Excellent thanks whitesands.
I'm thinking about getting one of those but cutting off the 'failsafe'. If i ditch my bcd I'd like to keep my smb.
Good idea to have a removable pocket you could use on any wetsuit/shorts instead of permanently gluing them on.
Pro's of FFM:
Comfortable
No sore jaw (comes with a ill fitting reg mouthpiece or hose length)
Looks pretty cool
Con's of FFM:
Can't donate primary on most models
Expensive to buy and service
Limited technicians to service
You have to carry a spare mask if you plan to switch to occy for...
Not carrying a snorkel has nothing to do with how 'experienced' if a diver you are. Purely personal preference. Plus for some people it can make their mask leak slightly especially with stronger currents and a big bulky snorkel.
I don't know I'm not a fish ;) maybe they can tell by the noise and lack of bubbles? I know when I scuba dive, snapper will swim right past me but when i'm free diving they won't come anywhere near me.
