You may want to look at diving Puerto Morelos which is halfway between Cancun and Playa Del Carmen. One of the Navy Minesweepers is located in that area and is an excellent dive! I went with Wet Set Scuba Divers based at Ojo de Agua Hotel. Wet Set Water Adventures of Mexico..the best...

I did lanes cove this afternoon... not the best idea with the wave action going on there. The visibility got better with depth especially at the dropoff down to 60'. The whole dive's vis ranged from 8-20' . Water is still quite warm as well. The noticeable thermocline is in that 28-35' range.

in particular, from anywhere north of scituate/plymouth ????

Actually, i was asking about late spring and summer due to parking availability and more boats in the area. Also, you are right across from the Naval Base according to google maps. I was wondering if the Navy would show any concern for divers in the area.

I went to Bonaire and stayed at the Divi in January 2007. There was a man who was diving dry in a brand spanking new DUI 450. I am still wondering why to this day!!!! :confused:

There's always a chance it could be a nurse since they have been found in RI waters. Also, there's a chance it could have been an Atlantic angel shark which has a similar mouth but is more ray like in appearance. From your point of view you may have not been able to see its whole shape.

A nurse shark in deeper mass waters!!!!!!! They are a tropical species!!!!
