What's so great about scuba diving?

Heath, I have been diving for 30 years since I was 12. I STILL hate descending in murky water and the bottom touches my fins before I see the bottom....gives me the creeps still. I also hate jumping overboard if I can see stuff down just below but not quite....still gives me the creeps...

    Prism rebreather

Isn't the Inspiro a SCR unit? I remember the Oceanic Phibian which has a niced integrated CCR and dive/deco computer. I do not like the additional hoses and pressure guages of the Inspiration. It is an old and new technology clash. Didn't stop me from ordering one! I hear the VR3 wrist...

    Harvey Drysuit info!

I had a urethane coated fabric drysuit for several years. You couldn't pay me to wear one now. A lack of stretch was the big issue. It seemed as if the crotch was near my knees. I have had a Unisuit and this was much better, but nothing has come close to my Viking Pro vulcanized rubber...

    Prism rebreather

Well, how many more Inspiration units are being used compared to Prism's? Until you do an analysis and take such into account, raw numbers are problematic. Switching gears, it is good you posted such info. I took a look at the Prism and I really liked the unit's compact size and some...

    Inspiration prices in UK/US?

I will be receiving my training through Rusty Berry at Scuba Schools of America in Montclair although the training will be by rusty at the Woodland Hills, California store since that is only a few minutes away from me. Monday Rusty called a few people interested in to see if they wanted to...

    Inspiration prices in UK/US?

Her eis the e-mail inquiry and reply from me to AP Valves: Q: Is there a cost difference between units that have U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT approved cylinders and valves? A: We cannot produce units with DOT approved cylinders, these will need to be sourced locally in the States...

    Inspiration prices in UK/US?

I will check into the cylinders and valves to make sure they are DOT approved versions. The dealer selling them would be taking delivery, then sending it to me. I will also look into the wings. They do advertise that this price is 15% off retail. Tonight in a pool I get to try an...

    Inspiration prices in UK/US?

Here is the e-mail quote I received: "Hi Dave thank you for your enquiry. We sell the Buddy INspiration for £3276. This is 15% off the retail price. As we do not carry this item in stock, we would require a deposit to order this for you." The above price converts to...

    Inspiration prices in UK/US?

I alwasy wondered what that VAT thing meant. Is it in addition to "sales tax"? How much VAt is on a product that sells for 3200 pounds? Would it apply if they shipped a product outside the country? For about $150-$200 USD I can have something the weight of a CCR shipped to the US.

    Inspiration prices in UK/US?

The lowest price I have seen for an Inspiration CCR is $5900 in the U.S. However I have heard they are about 3000 pounds in the UK, which converts to $4250 or so. For the $1650 difference, if the 3000 pounds is correct, well, I can fly round trip to the UK for less than $400. Does...

    Tahiti diving??

Dear Scuba-sass: No, I don't...for several reasons...too much upkeep, too much stubble, ingrown hair, etc. That is why it has all permanently removed via laser, because hair on underarms breeds bacteria and odor and is not hygienic. Consider yourself majorly jammed..... ;)

    Looking for a rebreather buddy(s)....

In the pictures of the Inspiro I did notice that in one it showed the o2 bottle and the diluent bottle mounted side by side but on the lower bottom of the unit horizontally. Seems this would stick out backwards quite a bit although all other photos showed the bottles straddling the scrubber...

    Looking for a rebreather buddy(s)....

URS, from what I can read on the deaths on Inspirations so far none of it really looks like equipment malfunction, but rather a lack of proper control and in one case personal health problems. I also think the Inspiration has to be the most widely sold and used CCR and it is used for deep...

    traveling with a dive knife?

I went on a fly-down fly back long range tuna trip on the Qualifier 105 out of San Diego to teh Revillgigedo island chain including Roca Partida, Clarion, etc. While fishing at Clarion, the bored Mexican Navy guys came with their H&K MP5's. a boatload of them. The captain had us prepped in...
