Two lake huron dives for inspiration!!!! And maybe a wreck diving book? Or great beginner scuba book?

Don't get hung up on the deep side/shallow side at Gilboa. You are not allowed to dive the deep side without a deep diver cert or higher, you must have 2 independent cold water regs and tanks, you shall have a drysuit and a drysuit cert. The shallow side is only goes to 60 ft and has all the fun...

Two lake huron dives for inspiration!!!! And maybe a wreck diving book? Or great beginner scuba book?

All our students wore rental 7mm wetsuits. The water temps above 60ft is very doable in a wetsuit. The water is warmer in the late summer and the fall. The "shallow side" is where all the fun stuff is at. The Gilboa website posts the current water temps. If you haven't got a wetsuit already, I...

Two lake huron dives for inspiration!!!! And maybe a wreck diving book? Or great beginner scuba book?

I would say go for and dive at Gilboa. When I was Divemaster ing, we would travel down and do our open water checkouts at Gilboa quarry. Yes it's cold but it's a controlled environment, it's not like out in a lake or ocean and there is a lot of fun stuff sunk there to see. The biggest issue with...

    Progressive lens dive mask?

I have been wearing multifocal contacts for diving for about 20 years. I have a different prescription for each eye. The left contact is "geared" more for close vision and the right contact is "geared" towards far vision and this works pretty good.

    Recommendations for 7mm Wetsuit?

You won't be happy in a wetsuit. If you can't afford a drysuit, get a semi dry suit. Sub-Gravity Paragon, DGX BP&W, Deep 6 or others?

That's your opinion and your entitled to it. I have never had them "disassemble themselves" ever, they probably weren't done up properly to start with.. If I had to do it all over again I would buy the exact same BP/W from sub Gravity. In fact I'm going to get their 6mm BP, 37 lb wing and...

Trip Report Sosua, Dominican Republic-December 2024

Don't judge the whole island country from a one day cruise stop at one town. I have been diving out of the village of Bayahibe on the south Caribbean Sea side of the Dominican Republic since 2016. There is reef diving, wreck diving, wall diving and even a cave dive. You will see several...
