    Passing Jump lines

Thanks everyone for all the replies! I'm taking Full Cave in October and have been thinking about all the different navigation scenarios I might encounter. This was really helpful.

    Passing Jump lines

Question: When passing other diver's jump lines already in place, do you treat them like a T and mark your exit side with a cookie / REM, or do you disregard them? Thanks

    Buford Sink

I imagine after the fatalities there won't be any opposition.

One dead and one Missing at Buford Springs (FL, USA)

Plus when diving on air / nitrox at that depth narcosis is a significant factor. Maybe not when everything is going well. But if you run out of air, your emergency decision making is going to be severely impaired.

One dead and one Missing at Buford Springs (FL, USA)

I think considering these kids were only 15 and 17, they did remarkably well. I would suggest that a lot of adults in a similar situation (assuming no knowledge of scuba), would also be hesitant to approach a diver, thinking that maybe this behavior was normal (remember we are looking at it from...

I was thinking the same thing when I read what they did. It is a very remote spot, I'm sure they felt pretty helpless when they realized the divers were in trouble. They did a good job to do everything they did to try and help.

One dead and one Missing at Buford Springs (FL, USA)

I thought the Sheriff's report was very detailed (from a surface perspective) considering it was released less than 24 hrs after the event.

Even with the boardwalk in place it is a very long walk to carry / pull doubles from the parking area. I think singles is much more likely.

@UCFKnightDiver You called it back in 2020 after the boardwalk was put in.

One dead and one Missing at Buford Springs (FL, USA)

This thread from 2020 has some pictures of the boardwalk and the spring itself. It also has a discussion about what effects the easier access to the site could lead to... https://scubaboard.com/community/threads/buford-sink.581573/

One dead and one Missing at Buford Springs (FL, USA)

It used to be a very difficult to access site. But they put a boardwalk in a couple of years ago. It made it much easier to get to the spring, but it does mean that a lot more divers are now diving it than before. Previously having to find the spring in the middle of a swamp probably put most...

When the conditions are good the viz can be crystal clear. The shear size of the Cavern (it is huge) make it more like diving in open blue water where you can be a lot deeper than you think you are if you aren't paying attention. There are lines at the bottom with arrows, but from my experience...

Is the Mares Bolt SLS a good BCD? Does Mares make good BCDs in general?

Before I switched to a BP/W (best choice) I was able to retrofit my Mares BC with a homemade crotch strap similar to the Dive Rite 1" one. I threaded it around the waist belt. Made a world of difference!

Is the Mares Bolt SLS a good BCD? Does Mares make good BCDs in general?

I had a Mares BC for over ten years. Never had any issues. It was rugged and dependable. I only sold it when I switched to a BP/W setup. From my experience the Mares brand is more popular in Europe than in the US, which might lead to you getting more negative feedback here on Mares. There are...

    UK Tech diving spots?

The Pembrokeshire coast on the South West of Wales has some great diving, and some in the technical range such as the Lucy wreck. https://divernet.com/world-dives/wrecktour-3-the-lucy/ I haven't dived it since I got tech trained, but I visit the UK every year and have shore dived around...

    Transiting the Gallery...

So I just finished reading your whole (other) thread and it is awesome! So much great information from you and several other divers. (Especially on how to navigate the gallery....I think I will experiment with the right v left sides and the different chambers you mentioned. I think I will also...

    Transiting the Gallery...

When you guys traverse the top of the gallery, do you have a particular route you prefer, other than staying as high as you can. I have only dived Ginnie a handful of times (intro level), and I feel like it is a different experience every time. I have had a few dives where the effort was...
