Did a Search and Recovery sub-forum ever get created? I can't find it if it did!

    Personal Limits to Solo Diving

I've been thinking about how to reply to this thread for a while, as I would like to say that I do have defined limits on how /when I solo dive. But the reality for me is that my diving limits are actually more conservative with a buddy than without one. I started solo diving due to wanting to...

Where did you solo dive today?

Same here! It was a little pricey going with Stuart Scuba. $120 vs JDC which I think is only $80 for the same trip. But it was nice and quick going out of the St Lucie inlet rather than having to drive all the way to Jupiter and then a long boat ride back up the coast. Stuart Scuba seem to do...

Where did you solo dive today?

I got to dive the USS Rankin on Friday in Stuart Florida. I dived with Stuart Scuba and really liked their operation, very relaxed. The water was beautifully calm on the surface, like glass. However the viz was cloudy and not great on the bottom. It was hard to get oriented especially with the...

What solo cert do you have, has it ever been turned down?

Just dived Solo with Stuart Scuba out of the St Lucie inlet in Florida. They are Solo and Tech friendly. They had a very relaxed approach. I told them I was SDI Solo certified when booking. On the boat it was me and a rebreather diver both doing solo tech profiles (and another buddy team diving...

Going From Tdi An/dp To Helitrox?

Totally understandable. And I agree on the two year gap. I was just hopeful!

Going From Tdi An/dp To Helitrox?

Per your original few posts, after emailing TDI you did not believe there to be a time limit. This is what I understood to be the case. My mistake. Regardless, again, per TDI, this is not an option anyway. I don't have anymore information for you so I suggest you contact TDI directly if this...

Going From Tdi An/dp To Helitrox?

I apologize for opening a can of worms here, that was not my intention. Just to clarify my personal situation and position........ I'm not saying @stuartv was incorrect 5 years ago (I'm just giving an update on what TDI is saying now), I am not complaining in any way. I'm not arguing with TDI...

Perdix AI oc Tec center row?

My NDL display switches to @+5 when in Deco. I put the timer there for safety stops on Rec dives (rather than switching between Rec and Tech modes), but on my last dive I found it is also useful for managing air breaks during O2 deco as well.

Going From Tdi An/dp To Helitrox?

Regardless, I was basing it (incorrectly), on what I read in this thread. I was just posting to confirm that per TDI this is not an option. I'm not saying TDI's position is wrong. I am just trying to make sure no one else makes the same mistake I did.

Going From Tdi An/dp To Helitrox?

It has been 2 years since I took AN/DP, which is a while I agree. But the point I was making is that regardless of time, TDI says this is not possible. You have to to take the whole class.

Going From Tdi An/dp To Helitrox?

    - Yes my instructor was able to teach the Helitrox class at the time I took AN/DP. - I spoke to TDI directly and they said that I would have to take the whole Helitrox class. I could not use my Deco class to fulfill the requirements.

Going From Tdi An/dp To Helitrox?

I know this thread is 5 years old but..... The above quoted information is no longer correct. I called TDI after reading this thread, thinking I could get my Helitrox card from my Deco Procedures instructor by doing the Trimix classwork and not repeating the class, and they told me no that is...

DIR- Generic HELP DECIDE - Steel HP133

I just finished a year long search for double steels, after trying various different sets in the water. I tried double HP130s for about a month. I consider myself pretty strong but the stress they put on my lower back made it not worth it to me. My back would hurt for a week after each dive. I...

Where to Rent Large Steel Doubles

@rx7diver I did think about the horseshoe design, but stuck with the donut as it has worked for me with my other two wings, so one less skill to learn. I'm curious how my current HP120 setup will fare in open water. Tomorrow (130' wreck dive) will be my first salt water dive with my current...

Where to Rent Large Steel Doubles

So yet another update.... I just ordered the Dive Rite Classic XT wing. I went with the donut version over the horseshoe as I that is the style I have always used and am comfortable with. I didn't really want to shell out that much for a new wing, but Dive Rite's reputation (plus a lifetime...

What was your experience with covid testing turnaround time

I just used CVS and DOH for a COVID PCR test for an international flight requirement. CVS results were back in about 24 hours. DOH (using LabCorp) got to me about 6 hours after my flight landed! Definitely recommend CVS! Just know that you have to make an appointment about two weeks out to...
