I haven't had mine blow out yet but it is all messed up. My LDS is supposed to be getting in replacement o rings for me. They have had problems with a few of theirs and have sent them back to Mares. I don't disconnect mine anymore because every time I connect it the o ring gets a few more nicks...
I don't agree with this - how does one become comfortable if they don't get in the water and dive?
A few 30 foot dives in great conditions isn't always possible. Dives to 30 feet may make them comfortable at 30 feet but then what? Having a DM present while trying new dive locations is a...
Congratulations on your certification and a huge congrats on handling the issues you encountered in such a calm manner. I also learned in a quarry and it really makes me appreciate the nice warm, clear waters of the Caribbean :)
The book "The Unthinkable" by Amanda Ripley really reinforces this. It is a more common reaction that active panic in catastrophes. I highly recommend the book - it really makes you think.
I am currently taking the PADI Rescue course and this posting really reinforces that as difficult as it...
I have ~35 dives in a 6 month period. I was certified OW in July 08, AOW in Aug 08. All of my dives have been with a DM or instructor. I've done shore dives in Cayman, boat dives in Cayman, Belize and FL Keys, and shore dives in a cold low viz PA quarry. A little current and 5' swells on some of...
It is Mares - stand for diving if in North America. If not just go to Mares - stand for diving, choose your region then click on download, tech info, computers and scroll to DRAK 140
My husband wears a 10 6E - he has the Mares Trilastic boots in a size 9 and the Mares Volo Power in XL. Seems to work well for him. Smartwater before a dive and during SI helps with foot/leg cramps.
Thanks Zak - I downloaded it last night! I forgot to uninstall the drivers before installing Drak 140 so it wouldn't connect at first. Uninstalled both the drivers and software, reinstalled and it connected perfectly. The only "funky" thing I can't figure out is the report shows my dives as...
Self study for a few days before class - I probably spent about 8 hours. Class on Tuesday and Thursday night for 3 hours each. Pool on Saturday and Sunday for 4 hours each then OW dives in a quarry. Three on Saturday and 1 on Sunday. It's a lot of information in a short amount of time.
I've had mine since Aug08 - I love the fit and comfortable padding but I have two complaints. It is hard to get all air released. I have to move around a lot, usually turning so my left side is up. I spend a lot of time trying to get air unstuck so I can refine buoyancy. Also the pockets are...
I've had my Nemo Air since Aug08 and overall really like it but have a few complaints too - mostly around the lack of software and the compass.
I too have had a dive log with no dive time but mine was only at 8ft. No idea what causes this.
If there is I haven't found it yet.
I forgot about...
I have the Sea&Sea DX1200HD but without a strobe. I took it to Grand Cayman last week and got a few good shots - you really need a strobe even in the clear water there. Pictures taken above water were great. It is easy to use in or out of the housing. I haven't used the video function yet so I...
