I will disagree with you here, Tom. I have always preferred an integrated attached boot. I have softsocks on my CF200 and can't stand them. I never liked rock boots or wearing an overshoe. Gaiters keep air out of my boots just fine. And I adjust them to be able to move air in my suit...
I bought the Tek3 regs from this post. But I think I've decided they won't work well for the rebreather application I planned. So they are available for the right offer. PMs sent to both interested parties.
There's a bad cold strain flying around these days. The only connection to your caustic incident I can think of is that it might have knocked your natural immunity out of whack for a brief enough time for that rhinovirus to take hold. Or it could have been just the dive itself and being wet. I...
"Rite in the Rain" paper and a laser printer. Print out all kinds of drills and skills in very large font on 1/4 sheets, both sides. Then bind them together with wax string and you have an instant multi-page notebook of flash cards. Use them at safety stops or any time during a stress-free time...
Tbone beat me to it. QDs sometimes come apart. It's just a fact of life. The problem wasn't that the connection came off, it was that you couldn't reach the hose. Inner tube or surgical tubing or bungee around the webbing of the BCD or harness (Snoopy loops) keep everything in front and...
Hey Jax. They were too small for me. I usually take a large, but forgot that Bare runs a little small. My current Bare gloves are XL. I should have looked before buying these as a spare. Laziness has its price.
And I have no idea what my ring size is. You planning to propose?
Brand new, still in package with tags. I accidentally bought the wrong size. My loss can be your gain. Kevlar palms, 5mm neoprene gloves. Very durable and comfortable... as long as you get the right size.
In stores for about $50 discounted. Clearance at Dive Addicts for $37. Yours for...
Why complicate things by having to actively wash (as in shower) the gear instead of soaking? A 100-gallon Rubbermaid horse trough makes the perfect rinse tank. Suspend a bar over it to hang stuff after rinsing. Put some plastic shelving next to it for small items. I even have a small winch over...
If you want SCR like the Dolphin, I would recommend the KISS GEM instead. Simple, inexpensive, easier to train and operate. If you want to go CCR, that's a whole different level of cost, complexity and risk.

Correct. I was responding to the question about why a regular BCD hose and QD could not be used. If the question was only about the connector, then it is just about the flow through the smaller lumen of the QD. And while you think you may have been breathing ok from a regular BCD hose and...
Cuff links have been available for a long time. But no one makes studs. I'm trying to do it myself, but it's hard to find the materials small enough.

It's not the connector as much as the hose itself. The inside lumen of a reg hose is larger bore than a BCD hose. You can't breathe through a BCD hose deeper than about 20 feet. Try breathing through a garden hose at the bottom of a swimming pool.

I've said it many times. Reducing deco time with richer mixes is a dual edged sword. Lower DCS risk is accompanied by higher O2 risk. While the risk of OxTox may be minuscule, the consequences of a seizure underwater is virtually certain death. Spending a few more minutes with a lower O2 mix is...
I'm sure if they recommended no diving whatsoever there would have been a 100% absence of DCS. The recommended profiles are ridiculous. I'll wait for the DAN study that is being done now with Doug Ebersole.
