    Shore diving in Coz

Casa del Mar and Tikila are basically the same dive, as is Scuba Shack for that matter. They're all right next to each other. Village Tan Kah is the very, very small hotel associated with Scuba Shack. Very convenient to stay there, dive and shore dive there. Staying at Casa del Mar and diving...

    Casa del Mar Cozumel

I've stayed at Casa del Mar many times and I've been diving with Roberta's Scuba Shack. That combination is extremely convenient if you aren't locked in to your diving arrangements through Casa del Mar. I'd say it's even more convenient than diving with any op that would pick you up from the CDM...

DC that pick-up at El Cantil

I contacted Deep Blue and according to them, they now do the SI on shore about a 3rd of the time. (Depends on the dive plans) When they shore SI, it's at Paradise Beach Club. Paradise doesn't charge for the bathrooms, but you have to make a purchase to use the chairs or other facilities. Same...

DC that pick-up at El Cantil

I believe Deep Blue will pick up from El Cantil and they do the SI (brake?) on shore. At least they used to do that. They'd usually go to Paradise Beach Club, but they'd also go to the conch pier occasionally. Now that the conch pier charges that may have changed. Edited to add that a private...

Good Dive Op/Accommodations Close to Palancar?

Deep Blue does their SI on shore. Depending on where the first dive was done or where the second dive may be, I've SI'd at Paradise Beach Club, the Conch Pier (pee pee pier?), Palancar and sometimes elsewhere, for instance, Cielo because the first dive was at Maracaibo and the second was to be...

    Review ATM report

My guess is that the savings will be based on many factors, but probably not enormous if you're aware of the existence of an exchange rate and you have the ability to calculate it pretty quickly. For me, paying in pesos is more convenient and a matter of peace of mind. Restaurants, taxis...

    August 2022 Roll Call

Fwiw, it looks like fates13 edited his/her post and is diving with Tres Pelicanos.

    Gear in Cozumel

The dive op I use is not located at my hotel, but keeping the equipment to shore dive would be an option . Otherwise, the boat would bring the rental gear.

    Finding something in Cozumel

I've been wondering where you were. I was a little worried. Glad to see you're back. Wow. This is amazing and done exactly as an informational website should be done, imo. Simple. Wish I lived there. I would love to run around to every one of those restaurants and get their info for your site.

MARINE PARK ANNUAL PASS - PROBLEM ORDERING

It looks like someone had luck using a Mexican credit card too. https://scubaboard.com/community/threads/conanp-park-passport.616573/

    Paddlefish in North Dakota?

Late response. Just saw this. I've dived the Garrison Dam and Lake Sakajawea many times and the Tailrace a couple times. I didn't see any paddlefish but did see some enormous catfish (I was told) in the Tailrace. Your best source of information about this would be to contact Randy at Scuba One...

    The Dilemma

How is it decided which boat you're on? Is it luck of the draw? By request?

    The Dilemma

I've never stayed at either, but another consideration may be boat size. Scuba Club is more of a big boat operation, while I believe Blue Angel is more of a small boat operation.

    Later dives?

Depending on how they handle "lunch", imo, that's a nice, relaxed trip and perfect if arriving by cruise ship. Dive 10:30-11:30, lunch at a beach club until 1:15, dive 1:30-2:30, back by 3:00. If I was two-tanking that sounds appealing, especially if there are more options than Playa Paradise...

    Later dives?

Deep Blue has a 9am departure. They have boats that leave from downtown and can pick-up at hotel piers south of downtown.

    The Dilemma

In that you have never stayed AI, maybe you should do that. You're only going to be there a few days so even if you decide you don't like it, it's only for a few days. You may be impressed with the food, you may not, it'll soon be over but you'll have a glimpse of what it's like. Whatever you...

    The Dilemma

Yes, I've seen that happen. If you want to stay at CDM, it's definitely a question you'd want to ask the dive ops you are considering.

    The Dilemma

Casa del Mar, like Blue Angel, would be another "splits the difference" choice. No charge for dock pick-up, but you'd be limited to dive ops that leave from downtown or the ops in the area. You'd have shore diving. It's a little more quiet than downtown. Resort feel but small grounds. Taxi for 3...

Upcoming Trip - Another request for suggested dive operators

Most, really all, of the shops will be able to provide you with varied opportunities at whatever skill level you're at. Just let them know about your skill level and what you're looking for in terms of accommodation. You forgot to mention a private DM. heh. As to a dive op convenient to where...

    Would it be weird...?

A "money strategy" I've used is to pay for most of what I think I'll spend up front as a deposit. At the end of the trip, I'd only owe a small amount and I didn't have to worry about holding a bunch of cash or using a credit card.
