Trip Report Quick Trip Report July 13-20 Blue Angel

Maybe they offer this already, but if I was staying and diving with them, I'd be talking to people staying there and diving about interest in a 1 tank afternoon dive at Villa Blanca, like, that nice 50-60 foot range. Little lunch at the restaurant. Nice long SI. Close. Perfect.

Trip Report Quick Trip Report July 13-20 Blue Angel

When diving with the Blue Angel dive shop, are the boats mostly divers staying at the hotel, or is it common to pick up divers from other hotels?

    Barefoot dive center?

To the OP with regard to this map, you can pretty clearly see "downtown". The road that cuts across the island leads, basically, right to the center of it. The marina is right where Paradise Reef is. (Paraiso). If you look south, you'll see Palancar reef. Almost every shop is going to take you...

    Tropical Depression 2

I agree whole heartedly that it would be an enormous, complex project. Though the State may not be directly involved in the language of a specific easement, the language on the easement must follow State laws or risk contest, which could be hard to win for the owner of the easement containing...

    Tropical Depression 2

Actually, it depends on how the easement is written. They can be broad. Also, each State can have differing laws regarding easements and ROWs. I don't know Texas law.

    Question Snorkeling Recommendations for Coz?

Tikila has been mentioned, but between El Presidente and the square, you'd have Tikila, Papa Hogs and possibly Blue Angel for snorkeling. ggunn would know if Blue Angel allows snorkelers. I had friends that stayed for about 6 weeks last year in an Air B and B on the south side of the square and...

    Tropical Depression 2

You may know this already, but if the port gets closed to diving, it's generally closed to all watersports, which includes shore diving. Usually the closings are due to Nortes and it could be different with other types of big weather. Others here will know more than I do.

    Question Scuba Juan?

ScubaJaun is on row 40 of that spreadsheet. You have to scroll down. Maybe you could fill in some of the blanks by replying here once you've seen it? JonHall is good about updating the sheet when he gets updated info about a shop.

Finding a (Best) Dive Op in Cozumel

That's what I'm talking about. One could even take the opportunity to explain to people in the beginning of the pinned post that it will be much easier for people to make good suggestions if they know where you're staying, and that if you don't know where you are staying or what the options...

Finding a (Best) Dive Op in Cozumel

I agree. It makes me wonder if it would work the same way as posting a link to the spreadsheet in a pinned message would work. Couldn't the post in a pinned thread have a link to this thread too, just like a link to the spreadsheet? There wouldn't be a need to update the single post in the...

Finding a (Best) Dive Op in Cozumel

Based on what I read in Post 121, I wonder if a pinned message that was simply a short description of the sheet and a link to that sheet on google docs, or wherever. At least I thought the sheet was on the web somewhere. It could be a one message thread and would update when the sheet is updated.

    Must Do Dives in Cozumel

I've done some diving with Allen when he was with a shop. He is very good and a really nice guy.

Least expensive nitrox certification option in Coz?

I got my nitrox card in 2006ish. A book, 3 tables, 2 dives, I think, and a written test. It was PADI and my memory was that it was about $175 and included everything. Because I was curious, I checked the website of the dive shop I use. They specifically set out nitrox cert and the other...

Wow. Let me guess, they're playing loud classic rock now too. Too bad. Had many really good and fun suppers there.

    Local News

It's been a long time and things may have changed, but Tikila and Ernesto's weren't playing 'murican music the last times I was there. Been to Tikila many times with friends during sunset, Ernesto's too for that matter. The only problem with both of those places is that they have a "south"...

Picking a new op with pier pickup at Blue Angel

Imo and fwiw, if BA is leaving at 9am, that's a selling point to me. Where I stay I watch many rushed, tensed up divers coming to breakfast on a mission to eat and get on the pier for their 8am departures. I'm up very early, and have pah-lenty of time to drink some coffee, eat some breakfast...

Picking a new op with pier pickup at Blue Angel

Would Blue Angel dive shop work for you? That would be very convenient. Did you mean Pedro Pablo works at Deeper Blue, or Deep Blue? My understanding is that Deep Blue will pick up at Blue Angel. Many shops will take care of your equipment if you ask. I've never done it, but if I wanted my...

    Question Favorite resorts in Cozumel.

I didn't see this mentioned but I may have missed it. Another advantage to El Presidente is that you can choose any dive op and they'll pick you up from your pier. If you're diving with the house op at El Presidente or the Coz Palace, of course you'll board at the hotel pier, but El Presidente...

    Question Snorkeling Recommendations for Coz?

It would be a boat trip, but if you're going to El Cielo, you should go to Colombia Shallows. 28 feet deep. LOTS of structure, etc. If I was ever on a trip with snorkelers, I'd insist on Colombia Shallows.

    Where to stay in Cozumel

I haven't priced the Park Royal and it isn't really my cup of tea, but it sounds like a pretty good choice. If not there, it sounds like a resort somewhere further south would work too, if you're thinking AI is the way to go. Further south will have better, less congested swimming, not...
