    Blue Heron Bridge Trolls III

If your friends know the area, you should be good. Be aware that the vis has not been good lately and you might be able to practice low vis diving! Dive on the high slack tide. Tide chart here: https://tides.net/florida/2157/ Be aware that the bottom, unlike the sandy ocean, is considered...

Ft. Lauderdale By the Sea First Time Questions

I dived at the bridge, BHB, an hour north of LBTS. It is a more protected area on the intracoastal. But it's best to dive on the high slack tide. Tide charts can be found here: https://tides.net/florida/2157/ And yes, the waves were very high on the ocean. Saturday I heard of a couple divers...

    Blue Heron Bridge Trolls III

FINALLY got to dive again! 18 days since my last dive. Thought I might need a refresher! LOL Vis started at 20ft, blue, moderate current. Almost no slack, and when it turned the top layer was a thermocline of green and dirty water. Vis dropped in some places to almost 0 and the shimmer from the...

Question Attaching an Olympus case to the diver

That's what I use. Jumping in with or without the camera depends on the boat and the entry style.

    Palm Beach Dive Thread

Got a dive in at the bridge today. Surprised not more divers there bright and early on this rare dive day. Been 18 days since my last dive.. Was rewarded with 7 seahorses, 20 ft blue water at start, 3 batfish, sea robin, all the regulars... After tide changed, the thermocline was dirty on top...

Ft. Lauderdale By the Sea First Time Questions

^^^ Everything.. All very good advice. If you want to travel to BHB, an hour north, that is dived on the high tide. But conditions have been close to pea soup. Though I just heard from friends who are up there now that the water is blue, and maybe vis is starting to open up.. fingers crossed!

Question Florida folks: What's your cold threshold?

81 first dive today in the keys. I got chilled so added my sharkskin vest to the 1mm zippered jacket for the second dive. Slightly warmer at 82. Time to dust off the 3mm.

    Carrying a pointer stick

Locally we call them muck sticks. There is a very popular dive site where they are used extensively by divers where the bottom is fragile. I use mine as an aid when setting up a shot with my camera, or as a device to gently look at hydroids. Yes it is much less intrusive than a gloved hand! It...

How long before it's all really dialed in?

oof.. You hit a lot of red flags there! And that's for another thread. Some women are so tired of being told how to do something, that the man/husband/boyfriend mansplaining yet another thing automatically triggers the ignore button. I am genuinely happy for you that you are able to articulate...
