    Why no regulator shutoff?

I have a regulator shut-off in the form of my tank valve, if I get a freeflow i just turn the valve and problem solved :D

    Dangerous gear?

That design always makes me very nervous, has their ever been any actual incidents of one of their exhaust valves actually failing?

    2 wetsuits at once??

I used to dive with two 3 mm suits layered up, it used to work pretty good. I also used to put rubber bands around my ankles and cuffs to stop the water circulating :D

    Warming between dives?

a Thermos of hot water down the neck works well :D Ive found snorkelling between dives helps keep warm, keeps you moving.

    Rescue of DIR style Diver

yeah the punch idea really dosent work, have you ever tried to hit something underwater? You really cant get up enough speed to make any difference through their exposure suit and all it will do will send your victim barrelling away from you. Also it really isn't necessary since the air will...

    Rescue of DIR style Diver

Have you rescued someone in a drysuit using this method? I would have thought that if you where holding them from behind they would end up floating away from you as the air in their drysuit expanded? Years ago there used to be a certain instructor who taught people that during rescue the first...

How many have legitimately used your knife/shears underwater in an emergency?

Ive had to cut a couple of guys out after they have been snagged in fishing line, usually its just a case of line getting wrapped around their tank post of 1st stage. I wouldn't call either of them an emergency though since we where both still breathing :D

Maintaining your scuba equipment is like...

Its like maintaining a pair of old boots, if they start to get uncomfortable give them a polish and stick a patch on the worn out bits and they will probably be fine. Just remember hell hath no fury like a Demand valve scorned.

Diving with a 15 litre tank.

For me its more about getting more bottom time, particularly in the 10-20 metre range. On a 12 litre cylinder in that range il hit rock bottom before i run out of time, so diving on a 15 lets me stay down longer.

Diving with a 15 litre tank.

I like diving a 15 litre from a boat since i can just slip it on and fall in the water, always nice to have the extra gas. For shore diving i find it can be quite a chore at times particually if i have to do any climbing to get in and out.

Would you understand my hand signal?

I got the first 3, 4 i realised what it was after you explained it since i do it slightly differently (just hold my fist in front of me) ,5,6 and 7 I didn't get at all :D 2 and 3 i knew what you meant but Ive never actually seen anyone using that signal before, i just read about it in a book...

Help me analyze a bad dive

There is nothing worse than an ill fitting dry-suit. Always remember, the further you slide into the incident pit, the harder it is to get back out :(

What is the best full face mask (FFM)?

The AGA is a good solid mask, don't know much about the others really so cant comment. Generally if your going to be diving a full face mask its a good idea to use a standard octopus and carry a spare mask in your BC. That way if something goes wrong with your FFM or primary regulator you can...

    Getting OW Cert when dyslexic.

Im dyslexic to a certain degree, I have trouble reading some words and cant really write at all. After explaining to my instructor I was able to do my exam orally without any real problems. In the course of my actual diving I cant think of any situation where its ever been a problem. I also...

convenient yes, but is it safe?

A couple of the guys i dive with use them, all of them have an analogy SPG as a backup. One of them had a problem but that was after they left their kit lying for months. They cleaned down their computer and transmitter and then it worked fine. Another guy had his transmitter go wonky and it...

Really NewB question. Why does Lift Matter in a BCD?

Generally if you are diving in cold water with quite thick exposure protection you will require allot of lift due to compression at depth. If you are in warm water with less exposure protection required the buoyancy swing is likely to be much lower and thus you wont need as much lift to get you...

    noise underwater by divers

Now that ive been diving my twin hose for a while i find the constant noise of my buddies single hose reg's drive me nuts. I find myself wishing they would stop breathing out so much :D Never encountered a shaker except in a swimming pool where i could constantly hear it clink clink clinking...

    Depth pressure question

yes, though freshwater dosent excert as much pressure per ft as salt water since salt water is heavier. If you think about it there is no difference between diving in a tank of water and diving in a freshwater loch isolated from the sea.
