    Flooding your mask with Contacts??

There are several options. 1. Don't wear contacts when you'll be flooding your mask. 2. Keep your eyes closed when the mask is flooded. 3. Ignore it (I haven't had any issues with losing contacts since the '80s), but have a spare set on the boat. 4. Wear one contact and keep that eye...

    Scubapro Jetfins

Twin Jets are not Jets. There is only one type of Jet Fin. Those who like spring straps want them on any fin they use, those who see no need for them, see no need for them with any fin.

When would you forego a solo dive?

I agree, but I'm more likely to cancel a buddy dive than a solo dive. While I dive with some excellent divers, from time to time, I dive with folks who don't have the necessary experience for conditions. In that case, I give them an opportunity to abort the dive. If they don't, I do.

    PADI vs NAUI

True, but until they had instructors and were issuing certifications, they weren't really an agency. I'll stick with 1960.

    PADI vs NAUI

Blu Diver, NAUI started in 1960, not 1954.

    PADI vs NAUI

Outside of the diving world, neither are very well known. Inside the diving world they are equally well recognized. With either of those or a bunch of others, there's no problem with recognition, your students will be able to dive. As for NAUI not having been around as long - sorry, but you...

Had my first pool dive and it was horrible

The article to which bygolly posted a link should help. I would add that when you are breathing through the snorkel with no mask, you should think about drinking through a straw. This is the first skill I have my students do after they complete their swim test. A couple of folks have...

Just laid on my coffee table and did the frog kick

True, but students tend to copy technique and pacing.

Just laid on my coffee table and did the frog kick

Not really. While his individual kicks look great, he's making way too many of them. Pause between kicks and glide.

    When diving, where are you?

Glenda is not my dive buddy, she doesn't circle my head with her magic wand when I close my eyes, and I don't wear ruby (silver if you've read the book) fins. When I close my eyes, I'm the same place I was when they were open.

Difference between WW and CW gear?

So do most divers in warm water.

Dive gear you own that you consider perfect

Scubapro Jet Fins with rubber straps. Scubapro Classic Sport BC (unfortunately, they've discontinued it this year).

100' before aow... how and why?

I'm not senile yet. I exceeded 60 feet on 17 dives before AOW. All were planned depths, some along a wall, others were to the reef/wreck.

100' before aow... how and why?

Your poll is misleading. While your post refers to "recommendations," your poll refers to "limitations." I would also like to point out that while those recommendations do change with AOW, AOW does not qualify a diver to dive to 100 feet. It is quite possible (and not all that unlikely)...
